The Muse I Adorn

I can tell a difference -- but not 15-20,000.00 difference..............
Squiers are legit guitars. IMO the high end of the Squier line stands up to anything. My VM Tele Custom is right up there with American made Fenders that I have owned. It is my #2 guitar, but only misses the #1 slot by a very slim margin, and it's not because of any quality issues. Also my Esquire which was put together from Squier parts is amazing.

These days "budget" guitars are just hitting it out of the park. I also have an Epiphone LP, and a Harley Benton LP Jr that are stellar guitars that don't require a 2nd mortgage to own. I'm confident that in a blindfold test no one would think these are "cheap" guitars.

Back in the old days (1980's) when I first started playing the guitar, the guitars you could get for current Harley Benton money were total crap; the stuff of nightmares. I still have my first guitar, a Yamaha, and it was a decent cheap guitar, but nothing like what you can get today for small money. I got my Harley Benton 6 months ago, and for real, I can't figure out how it cost less than $250. For that kind of money, it has no right to be anywhere near as good as it is. It is easily on par with Squier CV, Fender MIM, and high end Epiphone stuff.

I think we are truly living in the golden age of guitars.

I would agree with that. Epiphones and LTDs are now breaching the $1000 mark on some of their guitars and they lack only the name of their bigger brothers as far as some of their models. Squiers have made leaps and bounds over their early years and are on par with any of the MIM models if not surpassing them at times.

Squiers earliest years were great. The original Japanese made Squiers from the '80s were better guitars than any of the American Fenders of that era, and are commanding real money on the used market these days.

I got the anomaly era Tele Fender Squire series made in mexico that lasted about 5 years or so before the factory burned down. They used american necks and bodies but built them down in Coronado, Mexico with cheaper hardware. Stripped that stuff off and hot rodded it20201011_182318_copy_780x1040_1.jpg
