The Muse I Adorn

I'm up to date with my practice program (using a Strat) so this afternoon I decided to drag out an acoustic. Haven't held one for some time, for this novice it's so much harder to play. 616ce Taylor a lovely thing with nice tone. Only today did I figure out the ebony on the back of the headstock is to hide the scarf joint :-)

That is very nice!! If you find it difficult to play, it pays to work the saddle and alter the action. The great part is that if you mess us, you just pop in a new one!

Understood, late last year I looked about locally for a genuine Taylor saddle, one to work on and have the standard backup. Couldn't find one at the time but was advised the usual big strumming style this type of guitar is suited to requires a higher action than I'm using on my electrics. Decided to leave it for a while, it isn't a race, both my son and wife think the action is fine so it's me and my novice ability :-(

I ordered a bunch of bone saddles from our sponsor, Musiclily (see here), generally about$1.25 each if you order 5 (create account to see prices). At that price it is easy to experiment.

I was torn betwee a Taylor or a Martin, and got the Martin. After seeing yours, I want both!

And we have GAS for a Martin or two :-)
This is my wife's 618e, also a nice thing but at this time too big for my comfort level. Late here now, I forgot to turn the flash on but you should get the vibe of the thing.

EDIT,
Thanks, I did check the sponsors link and will give then some trade if I decide to change the action further down the road.

While on the acoustic subject, this is my wife's workhorse she's had it for well over 30 years. More expensive 12 strings come and go but this old girl is a keeper. She's been gigged by our son during his "grunge" period, after I reattached the bracing :-( she's as mellow as ever, ya can't kill her :-)

I am impressed with your wife's dedication to the 12 string. I have never found them easy to play.

She fell in love with George Harrison and his 12 string Rickenbackers back in the late 60's.
Only after we lost George back in 2001 did my place in the marriage became secure :-)
Here she is with two on the go in the same session.

Ah ha...I found some pictures of my guitar on Google. It's my 1989 Yamaha RGX Custom guitar with a neck through the body that I got brand new back then. It's one of my all time favourite guitars and I had it almost 30 years now. It has an ebony fret board and crystal inlays on the FB. The RGX Standard is the bolt on neck version with an H-S-S configuration and also an ebony FB. This guitar of mine is a killer guitar and I paid just over $2,000 brand new not including the hard-shell case.
