The Most Hilarious Gibson Bashing Video I've Ever Seen!

To expand my thoughts, I have no aversion to all-instrumental music. My first love in music is classical music, which normally only involves an orchestra, though some have been written to incorporate choirs and solo voices, as well.

I certainly don't dislike guitar-centric compositions. Eric Johnson is a master at crafting musical compositions for guitar. They are very interesting and compelling, for me at least, to listen to. They are very creative, melodic, and have real movement. I don't consider these to be solos, per se. I consider them to be more of a composition. He's not the only one, but he comes to mind.

As for guitar solos, I don't actually dislike them. What I tend to dislike is the preoccupation with sticking them in every song. In my observation, things started to come to head in the hair metal of the '80s. Sure, we all loved the solos! We'd fast forward the cassette to the solo just to be amazed at it!

As things rolled into the '90s, I started to get a little bored with the cliche. As bands started to do songs that didn't necessarily feature a solo or which used much more simplistic approaches to one, I kind of admired the courage of it. It's like the song began to reassert itself as being more predominant than the solo.

So, my dissatisfaction is not with the solo, itself. It's more with a formulaic approach to it all. Sometimes, I think a song has more meaning if left without one and the listener is left with the overall impact of the song.
This is how I interpreted the tenor of your previous message.

I too loved Classical music and was telling Kathy how whenever I think of music and how chords are, and sheet music vs tablature, my mind always goes back to the piano and how I learned to read music to learn piano.

I guess my point is, some players are good, some are great and some are specialists while others are multi-talented, and have the ability to play different styles across multi genres and still sound good.

While I can see the merit of the pared down way of thinking of our brothers, Robert and Gball, I can also see the merits of guitars owned by Mitch, Bdon, DonO, Jethro, and Session5, Kerry Brown, 67 plexi etc, who like guitars from various models, brands, build features. What works for some, is not always what works or brings others their version of happiness.

On the subject of wanking....

When i sit down with a guitar, i seldom play anything - "off-the-cuff" - that really impresses me. I know guys who can noodle for days and its just brilliant.

Once i sit down and put on the cans, something clicks and i can play things that i go back a re-listen to and i cannot figure out how i did that for the life of me.

I suppose i have to place myself "in character" before i can focus on my playing. Just to sit down and noodle, i find myself kinda drawing a blank most times.

Lmao I won't go into any details but let's just say that the subject matter of this song is very relatable to some family members of mine to this day
Saw that coming,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, 1 state away.
What I like and believe is right and sucks if I don't like it, as do those that disagree, because I am superior and smarter than everyone else, especially older people.

That is the attitude I draw from that youtube video.
Unfortunately, this attitude has been cultivated and the youth indoctrinated over decades, and I won't go into the politics.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This,,,,,,,, and don't forget the mindset of" Entitlement" in today's growing numbers of those who approach life in the 2020's.= and beyond.

I have a feeling that you're not going on Instagram or tiktok or Facebook or anything posting videos of yourself engaging in questionable or even illegal activities though. You'll probably be fine lol
We need Mitch to don his Spandex and do some Tik Tok videos.

Oh wait. I will never watch Tik Tok or its cousin, Hickory Dickory DOC either.

Same here. I too designed a few items for the Shuttle missions and the Space Station. Not allowed to take pics at work but here’s one little item I did. I designed this switch back in 1993. It replaced a $300 specialized switch that was Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) compliant switch for displays. This one costs about $10. It was used for about 20 years. Here it is on displays on the Space Station.

And all I did was dig ditches, pound nails and put roofs over other people's heads all my life.

I do get that from a song perspective.
From a playing perspective, I like to have a chance to fly and while some songs are real fun regardless of a solo, others I just like to make stuff up and stretch a bit. So for me, I like to play em whenever I can.
When the Afterglow originals band was started, the singer songwriter brought me into the fold based upon some band videos. One thing i cannot be accused of is underplaying!!
The first 2 songs did not have any solo, but there was some guitar stuff on the outro of the first song. It was ripe for a melodic solo but nope.
I saw it as why bring in a guitar player who plays with his teeth to have minimal guitar licks in the songs?
Was weird to me.
But then as you know, I just wanna have some fun.

First off, what is a They Them?

And I guess I get the intended message of how you expressed your reply

If I may summarize what I think you said, then you can correct anything I misspoke.

1. I seem to understand you to say, you don't particularly care to support the YouTwoober's comments, posts, presentation.

2.

"Being raised by hippies who shunned government, society with class systems, morals, morale, financial goals, responsibility to anyone but themselves, the society as a whole, or anything but their professed utopian mindset, yet having to be hypocritical to survive in society vs the alternative if they stuck to their "principles" of not conforming or rebelling against the status quo and walking the walk of the talk they talked..."

Then the relishing part kind of means, when THE MAN reacts negatively to the counter culture, they get a charge from evoking these reactions?

Does that pretty much sum up what you meant? Thanks.
I do not share The Twoobs sentiment, as it is just an ignorant youth speaking about things it does not grasp. But we have all been there. But it can be entertaining to watch. I still say as long as They or them keep playing guitar I say go for it bitch away.

On the other point my "step father" (jackass) will still to this day at any given inappropriate moment share his counter culture belief and call anyone stupid for not agreeing with him. Always attempting to bait someone into a crazy conversation. My Ex mother in law was the same and the same. So much for live and let live.

:victoire: :H5::dood:

Edit oh and the they thing, just that pro noun business we are expected to do now.

I have an 80+ year old….. now former brother in law that’s one of those his way or the Highway. Bit over a year ago when he called his wife of 45 years “evil” and “satanic” for disagreeing with him. She divorced him.

I have no issue if you disagree with me on a point. It’s called debate. You say your part. I say mine. We may or may not accept or agree on some ideas from each other. But at the end of the day. We can still be friends. And frankly. When it works that way, it’s a beautiful thing.

I had a crazy idea to start my own music/guitar Youtube channel and to do an episode where I interview Twooba!

I don't know if she would even agree to it, since I am almost a Boomer myself (early Gen X).

But, I'd have to get some more decent gear to make respectable video.
I'll ship you my Explorer if you do, so you can say "This is from one of your biggest fans Twooba! He wanted me to demo this for you"

Dang and agreed

Or, I could just use my Les Paul!

But, that's not my style. I'd probably just engage in a dialogue about her music, her preferences, what drives her thinking, how she got started playing guitar...that sort of thing.

It probably wouldn't get very many views because there wouldn't be any "zinger" moments.
