The holy grail of gear

If you could get that piece of gear, vintage, contemporary, owned by someone famous, etc…
This is your holy grail! Could be anything. Could be Malcom’s Young’s Jet, or some rare pedal. What would it be?

Edit: it doesn’t have to be owned by somebody famous. Could just be a simple piece of gear. Expensive as hell, rare, not made anymore, etc.

Interesting question...I suppose my answer will be somewhat of a downer.

I really can't think of any gear owned by another player that I'd like to have. Of course, there are notable items like Clapton's "Fool" SG or Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Number 1" Strat or Billy Gibbons' "Pearly Gates" Les Paul, but I don't really have any desire for any of those or other items owned by other players.

That's not to say I don't see things that may give me ideas about owning something similar. But, I don't really have a want for other pieces of gear owned by other players.

So, now that I've sucked the life out of the thread...every one else jump in!

Doesn’t have to be something owned by someone else. It could be a simple piece of gear. A vintage amp perhaps

I think I've hit the point where I no longer lust after gear. I still peruse Craig's List, and Facebook Marketplace daily but that's more because I like looking at gear rather than actually thinking about buying it. I've come to realize that I sound like I sound and gear won't change that. The gear I have is more than adequate to achieve my sound. I'm not a collector. I'm a player. That said, if someone wanted to gift me a really nice slope shoulder Gibson acoustic I wouldn't turn it down :)

I don't think my "Holy Grail" would be some piece of historic celebrity owned or vintage piece of gear.
As a hobby hack player, I'm not looking for that ONE special tone (amp/guitar/pedal) - I like options (see sig...).
The gear I have can cover a lot of ground, but appealing to me might be some kind of jack-of-all-trades amp.
Perhaps this could replace a few of the amps in my hoard?

Hmm good question. If I had to pick just one piece that would make me feel like I had something next level and almost otherworldly , I'd go with this

But..I know I'm dreaming and will never be that cool. So, I guess I'd settle for this instead

Hello Kitty is a little over the top for you or anyone to handle. I'm glad you recognize that!

I'm actually lucky enough to own my grail: a 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst.

Beyond that, If I could have any one piece of gear that would qualify as a personal grail, it would have to be a 1977 Les Paul Custom. The mid/late '70s Customs are my favorite guitars ever - the combination of features, especially the maple neck, just does it for me.

I don't really get GAS for any particular piece of gear. Closest I would have to date would be the Ovation I purchased in 1974. I'd kinda decided I wanted one. Went to a shop to look. Came home with one.... which I still have......(the guitar, not the shop) The second time I seriously GASed for a guitar was the blue Strat I purchased a few years ago. Then when I decided I needed to replace my cheap Multi Effects box with a newer one, one that was able to interface with my computer.... after some research settled on the Boss GT1. Lots of options and was in my price range.

There's only a couple artist's guitar that could be fun.... That would be Neil Young's "Old Black" and/or Brian Mays "Red Special."

ok, my turn.
This is going to sound strange coming from me.
But here it goes.

I'd want Paul McCartney's Hofner.
To me its just super iconic and it would be cool to own his bass. Or a Hofner autographed by him would be a close second.
I hope none of the other metalheads here see this.
