I changed out the tuners and pickups on The Green Slime with the ones from this guitar: http://www.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-USA/LPJ.aspx

I also change out the 3-way toggle and input jack with ones from switchcraft and changed out the pots with CTS push pull pots. I wired it up series/parallel per pickup. Forgot, and I change the cap out to paper/oil.

Here are a couple pics:

I like it. I don't really think the original pickups or tuners needed to be changed. The original wiring harness and pickups seemed to be high quality. But, now it has Gibson USA pickups and Kluson tuners. I've got my eyes on the new Schaller Signum bridge, see what happens in the future. I still don't have any more into then an Epi G-400 or Les Paul.

Intonation isn't a problem on the original slime bridge. Between the outer stud screws and the individual saddles it's pretty easy to set it. I've read others who have complained about the bridge, but mine seems to be solid enough. Looks real cool too. Not sure why I want to change it - lol. A bridge swap will be down the road though as both the Schaller Signum and Les Paul Trem are a little pricey and there really isn't a reason to change it out, so, later works.

I have one of those Epi '61 SG Specials (The 50th Anniversary model) with the compensated "Lightning Bar" bridge/tailpiece.

Intonation is spot on, and easy to adjust.

I actually prefer it to the standard Tune-O-Matic bridge and tailpiece that Gibson/Epiphone seem to schlock on everything...

I had a Meldody Maker SG once that had the rounded compensated bridge on it. As long as it had 10's (which I prefer anyways) and the neck/action pretty much set to specs the intonation was ridiculously close for such a simple set up. If I remember correctly it didn't even have the stud set screws. About as solid as it gets ;)
