I like mini-humbuckers. I have them in my '74 SG.
 
I had a 1969 Gibson Deluxe gold top got it for amp repairs had around $350.00 in parts plus my time the guitar sounded great
got a offer I couldn't refuse
 
The “New York” pickup had a sound unique to the Epiphones of that era. The Gibson mini humbuckers don’t sound anything like them.
 
I had New York pickups on my 1953 Epiphone great guitar gave it to my friend Betsy one of the best necks ever on a guitar.
