Although he wasn't a TTR member, he was a musical mad scientist and I believe his spirit deserves recognition herein.

Bassist extraordinaire - Keli 'K0NG' Wilde - former member of L.A. Band's 'Mutiny', 'Eden' and 'August Redmoon' passed away suddenly yesterday at his Southern California home.

Kelli (standing front) Mutiny - 1982

Keli and I worked together in a musical project for about 7 months. During that time, we collaborated on about 15 songs and were actively creating a 'post-apocalypse' themed band called 'Maxon Axxe' with all original material. Unfortunately, this was about the same time that I had to deal with my 10 year old Son moving back in with his Mom unexpectedly, and I just couldn't keep going. I took a very amicable - but very needed break from the project. Keli and I continued to remain in touch.

Keli started a band in Los Angeles in the early 1980's called 'Mutiny' and they showcased on the Sunset Strip, opening for some now famous L.A. based metal bands. Keli was also a former member of August Redmoon and had played in innumerable music projects.

Keli could literally write a song in just a few minutes, completely and eloquently arranged. Lyrics flowed out of him in what seemed like an endless stream. One of our favorite lyrical lines was "I am the things you do - that kicks the livin' poop outta you..." This was basically a single-finger salute to drug use and our human tendencies towards self destruction.

Keli was an accomplished guitarist, but his passion was the bass. He was an absolute powerhouse with incredible dexterity and technique. He would frequently play Billy Sheehan riffs with complete fluidity and then play it off that he wasn't that great of a bassist.

Keli's main bass was a Gibson Thunderbird he had painted flat black. It was outfitted with eye bolts and chain in place of a strap. he wouldn't use anything but DR Black Beauties bass strings. His amp of choice was a Ampeg SVT-4 Pro through a pair of Ampeg SVT 810-E bass cabinets.

My son Quinten enjoyed going with me to our 8-10 hour, marathon rehearsals each Saturday. Keli would always make him an active participant in whatever we were doing and we have fond memories of our time with him.

Keli told me one afternoon, just a few months ago, "When I get up to heaven, I'm gonna kick it with Lemmy."

Well, my friend, say hi to Lemmy for us all....

Here is an original composition that Keli and I worked on. Keli wrote all the music, the bass and guitar parts, the lyrics and vocal melodies and all arrangements. My job, as the band's solo guitarist, was to learn the guitar parts for our 'Maxon-Axxe' band project.
