Thank you very much, brother!

So, I actually asked him for permission to post this, but coudln't wait.

Many of you know me and Wade (our member Walks Backward), and are aware of the fact that we're good friends.

Well, in one of our tone debates I mentioned that I was looking for a ProCo RAT for my chain, but it is very expensive and hard to find here in the neck of the woods where I live.

Wade promptly said that he'd send me his own RAT, as a gift. I was glad with his gesture, but declined, 'cause I didn't want him to part with one of his own guitar pedals, and besides I wouldn't give anyone the trouble of mailing it.

He insisted and sent the pedal by mail. The package arrived today and I was even more happy when I saw that along with the RAT (a truly mint pedal. I already know that he takes very good care of his guns and gear, and man, this is clearly an item that was well cared for) he also threw in a Mouse clone, with slightly different circuits for a wider RAT tonal range.

So, I wanted not only to thank him by PM, but also open a thread to publicly acknowledge his attention. I value friends more than anything and like I told him, the handwritten note he sent with the pedals will be kept dearly in my rock n roll memorabilia.

I often say that I'd much prefer to live back in the seventies forever, but one thing I must say is better nowadays: we can make real good friends much faster and effectively than when everything was done by letters in the mail.

Thank you again, old Brother, and I'll post a review as soon as I put that evil artifact in my chain!

Wow very nice gesture on Wades behalf and those are some nice pedals. is that one of the early Rats ??? they all built like tanks. Anyway Good on ya Wade and Good on ya Sergio

Today many people see the amount of possessions that they own as a status symbol. Indigenous people of this land view what they have given as something to be honored. In true Native American tradition, Wade is to be honored by what he gives, not what he has acquired.

So, I haven't recorded anything yet, but I just turned off the amp and WOW.

I had seen countless vids about ProCo pedals, but never really played with one myself. The RAT is a real punch in the face.

I played both the SG and the American Strat with it. The SG, as I expected, got a full palette of shades of dark. The "filter" knob is REALLY smart. But the best part was when I plugged in the strat.

Some of you friends might have read one or two threads started by me in other forums, about my attempts to make my SSS strats sound heavy for harder rock stuff. You know, compressor, crybaby punta tacos, and all that jazz.

Well, the RAT does the job and makes anything else unnecessary. I can get from a compressed growl to a clear distorted roar just by using the filter and adding just a little more distortion... And I did it with the amp set flat, through a clean channel. I didn't think this would ever work with a single dirt pedal. And it does! It's not a pedal I'll use for a bluesy/indie clean crunch, but for a heavier overdrive/distortion??? Oh boy, that's the ticket!

I got a gig next week and will play that one with a strat and a RAT. That rhymes! I don't know, but I think this gig will surprise my bandmates a lot. Lots of fun!

Still haven't used the Mouse, but as soon as I do, I'll post a full review.

Again, thanks so much, Wade!!

I too can vouch for the generosity of Wade.
A couple of years back, I was looking for decent tubes for my Ibanez TSA5, but over here, they cost an absolute mint.
Just about need a mortgage to buy a couple of sets.
Anyway, Wade had a couple of full sets of Electro Harmonix 12AX7s and 6V6GTs, and before I knew it, they were winging their way from Texas to Western Australia!
Wade, my big brother, once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
And Sergio, enjoy the "Rat"!

Wade has given me the gift of the revitilization of a long list of items in my home - he told me about Ballistol and I sprayed it on everything - most of them are like new again - thanks Wade!

I'm glad you like the RAT. If ya want a blues style tone, roll off the Distortion a bunch and ease the Filter over to the right a tad. You'll get a creamy overdrive like a hot Fender Bassman with a warm set of power tubes biased up. Test the Distortion adjustments and you're gonna find all kinds of stuff. And the Filter is the key to fine tuning..

Wave got it, but y'all are makin' me blush. :X3:
Yesterday afternoon I walked across the road with a cup of coffee in one hand and a boxed Bad Monkey in the other. Sat down on the front porch with my neighbor for a bit and "chewed the fat" a bit. When his wife said supper in 10min I bid him good evening and went home with my empty cup. I was in need of more coffee. If I remember right the 25th is his birthday, oh well. :celebrate2:

RVA, so you like that Ballistol huh? Always thought it was handier than pockets on a shirt. Glad you like the stuff. Now if I could figure how to get a commission every time someone uses it on a recommendation I'd make a buck or two! Ha!:)But seriously I'm pleased it's helped around your place. Got an odd odor but it dissipates after a bit. I'm always coating something with it to lube or protect it. :H5:

I love the stuff. I have used it for many varied applications, such as
- Finally getting the popcorn tolex on my old Peavey shiny black again
- Getting the black bobins on old pickups black again
- Lubing the hinges on every interior door in my home
- Guitar machine head lube
- Getting urine stains out of tile (no comments please, but the wife is happy and it is an easier world in which to be a poor aimer)
- Cleaned my guns
- Cleaned my guitar strings
- Moistened a gasket in valve that shifts from tub to shower

There are more, but I do not want to think too hard

I feel like the dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding did about Windex. Thanks Wade!!
