Teach me Hendrix

A lot like Hendrix influenced so many, there are many threads within music that influence anyone who has come after pioneers like Hendrix.
Seeing Frusciante at his worst while addicted to drugs is very hard to watch. Even seeing him before, during and after, he was still madly skilled and even a genius to have done so while nearly dead. You can see he is the product of his influences such as Hendrix. I am glad he survived what others like Weiland, Staley, Hillel, Cobain, Hendrix, Joplin, etc all failed to survive

@Far Rider

Can someone point me to five or six songs by Hendrix that really captures what he was all about? I've heard snippets and a few of his songs, but nothing extensive. Since I live in his City, I feel I'm missing out on an influence and unfortunately I just don't get his influence on so many.

Please don't judge. I'm not saying he's not important, or that he's irrelevant. I'd just like to understand him more.

I first saw this computerized explanation of breakdowns of timing thru Rick Beato.

I truly can see how Hendrix was not a metronomic player, but had the Feel to make it all work. Imagine what Handrix and his band would have sounded like if they jacked all his songs up with computers and auto tune etc,

Oh, this is the only guy who could actually pull this song off live.........

Eric Johnson is such a poorly overlooked virtuoso. Of course everyone knows the legendary Cliffs of Dover, but he has so much more. Definitely a guy who can capture Hendrix vibes and sound. Beautiful playing and tone. Makes it look like he's almost bored its so easy lol

For a more direct copy of Hendrix, there's Randy Hansen who not only sounds eerily similar ( guitar and vocally)but even looks somewhat like Jimi ( minus the mouth) lol he's quite phenomenal really.

I only like to record full band live and retrack parts that really need it or add a layer. I cant mentally do the cut n paste thing with anything other than sample based music.

On many music projects, we record an entire band in one take, with all instruments and vocalists in isolation booths. This ONLY works with a really tight band.

When I record at home, I'm usually building from a drum track, but I don't cut and paste anything. Audacity doesn't really have that level of accuracy.

If I screw up on a guitar part, I re-record the entire track.

Im still REALLY stupid when it comes to trying to properly record something but when I have managed to pull it off, i used Audacity and like you said: it's a bit difficult to work with and like you, i would just start over and record it fresh cause i suck at cut and pasting lol
