So I am ALWAYS on an eternal hunt for "the acoustic" ---- I have yet to find it--- I come "close" --- I THINK I have found it --- I buy --- I play for a bit--- I become disenchanted.............happens over and over.

last week I played a Taylor

Actually this model............

and I was VERY IMPRESSED....I have played Taylors before--- even more expensive ones--- this one was "just right"

but that price------ sent me packing---

(sorry --- epic CHEAP BASTARD) so the search continues--------

maybe one day at a yard sale or estate sale one will come into my Ferengi grasp

I have played those as well......

I havent decided if its the guitars----- or if I just am NOT an acoustic guy----

After six or seven months of trying small acoustics I ended up buying a Taylor GS-mini E. I tried every model I could find under $2,000. I wanted a small parlour size that had a big sound and sounded good plugged in as well as acoustic. The Taylor did it all and more.

Mrs Gasket has a maple 618e and I have a maple 616ce.
Both a just little tiny tiny bit brighter than the average acoustic, we love them, but SHMBO has GAS for a Martin.

I don't even own an acoustic anymore.
No point.
My acoustic playing is even worse than my electric playing.

I have 2 thinline acoustic-electric Epiphones. I like the sound of Jumbo but do not like the big bulky body. I've converted to smaller bodied acoustics.

I'm with you liking smaller acoustics.
My photo doesn't show it but my wife's 618e on the right is way too big for me given my skill level. I want to concentrate on what my fingers are doing not trying to hang on to a big beast.
Check (photo in post #5) the Taylor size next to the black Strat in the background.

Taylor, you say?

I love the big, rounded jumbos. I prefer that round-bottomed shape to a dreadnought, actually.

I am sort of interested in finding a smaller acoustic, myself. But, I still want that same basic shape.

This is the 415CE.

Which one?

I have the GS Mini in all mahogany and no electrics in it.

Despite what the cork sniffers may say laminate guitars sound fine to me.

My wife has two 12 string acoustics, one an expensive Australian Maton solid timber, it sounds very nice.
The other is an Ibanez MIJ laminate, of the two it's her number one.

@frankblade , Is your's loud?

I ask because I had a friend who had a Washburn acoustic. It was the loudest acoustic I've ever heard. It had a deep, warm tone. But, I really remember how loud it was.
