Tattoos... Got 'em? Like 'em?

Yep. These days they want people with a Degree in Psychology, who are prepared to get down and dirty for an average pay.
Most people with a B.Sc. (Psych.) (if they are even remotely intelligent) would be working in private practice earning probably 5 times what the average cop earns over here...
I'm damned sure if I just did 7 years of University that I'd be chasing drunk drivers and breaking up domestic arguments for $60k a year....

I consider our state (NSW) police well payed after all of the penalty rates are factored in, particularly after a a couple of increments. I know an Inspector and his wife is a Senior Constable, between them it's $$$ happy time.

WA Police are probably some of the worst paid in the country. They have only just been given Workers Compensation. Previously if they were injured at work, they got 6 months sick leave on full pay, but if it was more serious and they were off for more than that, they had to have their own income protection insurance.
I know a guy who just retired as a Senior Sergeant, with 43 years service. His final annual pay was just over $74k. That seems a lot, but Perth is now one of the most expensive places in Australia to live, and $74k is basically enough to survive on, but you won't have a lot of spare cash for guitars, holidays etc...

Your mate in NSW would be on $65K to $116K before penalty rates added.
$94,600 average according to Mr Google.

Now we've moved a long way from tats :-)

No ink on me. All I have is four knife wound scars and a bullet hole healed over. Near thirty years of dealing with the "not always nice public" will leave a scar or two. But that's ok as my aim was far better than the other guys. So no tats but I figured I earned the scars.

I love looking at tattoos but I wouldn't get one for several reasons, including not liking one thing long enough to have it on my body permanently and not wanting to scar my skin. I like the idea of body art, but I have a more transient nature. Also it's all a moot point because I have a messed up immune system, so tattoos are probably asking for trouble. If I was to get one though it'd probably involve the constellation Orion or other stars, a compass, runes or maybe a fox or dragon. I like the idea of tattooing stars on my body corresponding to where they are on Orion, so three along my waist, one at the back of my neck, on the shoulders etc. Not sure where the scabbard would go though :P
