One of my colleagues started a business that measures locomotive emissions - 20 years ago - and he is still earning a grest residual.

Having ssid that, its just one more instance of California's nearsighted approach to everything.

There are maybe alternative fuels but until they fix rocket engines on the locomotives they will never achieve the power needed. 0 emissions is not a viable idea to pull the frieght.
