String Joy 30 day challenge

lesson 13 was ok. I’ll do some call and answer licks, just to do the homework.
I’m still working on picking economics.
I can do it very slowly. But if I up the bpm just a little I start going into alternating picking.
This is going to require time.
No I know why I didn’t major in economics.

Finger picking is something I have never done. I really never had any interest in that style of playing I guess.

I do some extremely simple finger picking. When my wife was taking guitar lessons as a kid…. Jr. High and HS maybe. She was being taught classical guitar. So even though she doesn’t play much anymore…. She can still do that better. Now me. I can slay her with a flat pick. :celebrate2:

Well, I’m going to give it a go tonight. But I don’t see that being part of my daily routine.
In a way finger picking is not horribly different from Hybrid Picking. The big difference: With finger picking your thumb does the three bass strings and your first three fingers do the treble strings. With the pinky finger being available upon request. Hybrid picking your thumb and first finger is obviously holding the pick and now you're using the middle, ring and pinky on the treble strings. Kinda gives you the best of both worlds.

I was on worship team with a guy that did the hybrid picking. He was pretty good at it. Frankly, he was good at anything he did on guitar.

I should add to this. I have tried hybrid picking and pretty much stink at it. So will be interesting to see how that lesson helps me.

I'm in the same boat. Except for me its probably worse. If I use my fingers to strum or pluck, its on a bass. My fingers are looking for bass strings not a .009 or .010 dainty string.
