String Joy 30 day challenge

I like the arm technique. I just tried it.
You can really get some wicked vibrato out of it.
And I learned something new!
My progress with lesson 1.
Did all 4 fingers all the way to fret 12 on all 6 strings. It’s a workout.

I woke up this morning and my knuckles were stiff from the vibrato practice.
I think I might keep that as part of my routine. Granted I don't think I'll do the marathon of every finger on every fret of every string, but I will incorporate it into my practice.
I really dig the arm technique. That was pretty cool.

Great! My wife is going to love the catcalling!!! lololololol!!!
But I think I'm going to stop at the pharmacy and get some burn ointment and possible sutures.
I got the cat calling down now too. I thought it was going to be more about having little slides into notes while soloing. I do an octave thing in Roadhouse Blues, call and response with “save our city” and “give up your vows”, think I’ll try sliding up and down and see how it sounds.

I did more vibratos than slides today. Got me thinking about learning something new everyday. While fun, I’ll forget most of it if I don’t work it into something I already do. Heck, I’ve forgotten more than I know. I’ve been practicing with a good friend almost every week now. We’ve worked up about 20 songs. One of the ones we do is Tom Petty’s Breakdown. He introduced me to that as he sings it and plays rhythm on it. So I learned the lead parts, not too tough. So I figured, how can I fit a few vibratos into that and well, there’s a few spots that it really works.

This could get interesting !

What I like about this course is, it isnt really teaching me anything new (although the arm vibrato thing was new to me). It is making me revisit these techniques in a focused manner and making me think about applying them more creatively than I currently do. The slowing down of the vibrato and getting that kind of warble versus the frantic vibrato is something that I don't normally do.

Bends! Unless you are scuba diving, bends are GREAT!!!
