You all remember this.

Now it looks like this.

I sanded off the old oil finish this morning and have hit it with black grain filler. Got bored with it. Plus I was able to sand a couple of gouges out of the back from when we were discussing dampening the springs and I slipped with the pliers. I'm going to stain it cherry red and spray it with nitro. Oil over dye darkens the color too much.

I also have a W/B/W single humbucker pick guard coming from Warmoth. I had the tremolo screwed down tight with a block of wood wedged behind the trem block. I will put it back this way unless I can find a nice fixed bridge that will cover everything.

Stay tuned.

90% of the sanding done. I'm going to finish up in the morning. It's certainly a dusty mess with 320 grit. I'm glad it's super nice out for a couple more days.

Now I'm debating. Translucent red, or orange? I have cherry red and lemon yellow so I can mix up most flavors of orange. Remember, white pickguard.

Transparent black.
I was told no. When the SG shows up that will be trans black and the Les Paul will be blackish with sparkles. Plus the Jackson I just picked up is black as is my SG standard.

Looks like it's still going to be backwards and I vote antigua just to be a :poo:
I thought that was a place @eSGEe likes to hang out with his pirate ship. Didn't know it was a color.

The Antigua finish is The Great Triggerer for so many guitarists, i think maybe thats why I love it so
This is only partway there, but a pretty classy photoshop concept I came up with, always wanted to complete.. but never had guitar to do it with

Wow. Hats off to you guy. I barely can paint a wall.
Do you want to rebuild a small block Chevy? I could pretty much do that asleep. I'm still learning this wood finishing thing. When I built my bass I got a toasted Swamp Ash body and used black grain filler before I stained it red. It pretty much ended up Burgundy and Adrian wasn't pleased. I think it was a combination of dark wood, and too much stain. It seems that the clear coats amplify the stain.
