Strategy for Super Bowl Season

Rams are going to the Superbowl. They will play the winner of Patriots vs Chiefs game... which is going on right now.

Well, all MY teams are in the final four. So what's it going to be after today, all you bandwagoneers?

One of my backup bandwagon teams, the Patriots, is still in the hunt.

However, if they should be eliminated, things get interesting, as I’ll have to pick an emergency bandwagon.

Kind of funny that as soon as I retired from working in 2014, I started to watch a whole lot more of Pro football. The previous season was a bummer cuz politics reared its ugly head while I'm trying to watch a sporting event.

Okay...

It’s a new year, a new Super Bowl, and a new Band Wagon to jump on!

Decisions...decisions.

Here’s what I’m thinking for my three choices, in no particular order:

1. Packers. There’s a certain regoinal loyalty from my home town.

2. Ravens. There’s a certain regional loyalty from my current residence.

3. I’ll make my third pick after the Wild Card games are done. Part of being a Band Wagon Fan is to not go too far out on a limb. You gotta manage risks!

Since So Cal went without a football team for like 25 years, I stopped watching it. But if I had to cheer for a team it would be my childhood home town of Baltimore. Go Colts! Gotta love Johnny Unitas, oh wait....

They’re still playing football?? When does baseball start.

Who’s your baseball team?

When I was just a kid growing up in northern Illinois I decided I liked the Cubs. Consequently, no matter where I live, I can’t root for another baseball team besides the Cubs. It’s part of the Code of Honor.

I live in Maryland, in the metropolitan Washington DC area. I am happy for the locals that the Nationals won the last World Series. They’re my neighbors and I’m happy that they’re happy. And, for the sake of the native-born population, I may be happy for them if the Orioles do well. But, I am duty-bound not to actually ~root~ for them.

Once a Cubs fan, always a Cubs fan. I also am required never to root for the White Sox. Sorry. To White Sox fans, you understand it’s not personal; it‘s just business.

However, when it comes to football, I am far more opportunistic and self-serving. Hence, my carefully refined “Band Wagon Fan” process of team selection!

I tend to watch football the same way I watch a nature show: Is the lion gonna catch the zebra or will the zebra get away? Will all the wildebeest make it across the river or will one get caught by a crocodile?

The key is not to get emotionally involved. It also helps if you like another sport better...like hockey!

Currently, I am watching Drew Brees pick apart the Vikings defense.

Well let’s see. My brother is a die hard Cardinal fan. Pretty sure he wears cardinal underoos. Don’t hate them, but not a fan. For a time I was a Mets fan. Back before they won a WS. Then in the mid 70s I started dating the eventual Mrs. IbLive. Her family loves the Cubs. Her dad was one of those Cub fans that rooted for the Cubs and anyone who played the Cards. I make jokes that it could have been a deal breaker with his daughter if I wasn’t a Cubs fan.

Long way to say. Cubs are my team.

Wel...slap me silly and call me “sister”... the Vikings won.

I gotta figure on how that figures into my Band Wagon Method. But, too much thinking isn’t allowed on the Band Wagon, so I gotta keep this simple.

....

Actually..this is easy...

The Vikings have cool helmets...

Whoo...saved at the last minute...!

Thanks guys! I didn't have to watch the game! Actually, I forgot all about it. So who are the remaining bandwagon choices besides the Vikings? You don't want to pick them. They are incapable of winning the Super Bowl.

Okay...so the Vikings just defeated the New Orleans Saints.

So...right now, until, at least, half-time of the Super Bowl, itself...

My three picks are...

1: Green Bay Packers

2: Baltimore Ravena

3: Whoever Wins the Seahawks vs. Eagles game.

4: (I’m holding the Vikings in reserve!)
