Primo Sound Systems in Riverside, California, has been in the same location since the mid 1970's. It features two large rehearsal rooms. We booked out one for our Saturday auditions:
When you walk in, you file past these PA cabinets - double stacked - to well over 8 feet. Several are still wearing "Motley Crue" logos.
Then, in the corner, I saw this odd device. I'd never seen one before. I am guessing it's some kind of transformer or regulator??? It was running because you could hear it humming...
Of course the console was from the days of lore as well:
And this trip back in time just wouldn't be complete without genuine, vintage musicians...LOL!!!!

Now, take a look at my Marshall combo - Stage Right. When I was standing in front of it, I could barely hear it....I thought I really needed more volume, right???
But, when I walked down the ramp a few steps, it almost blew my face off!!!
Talk about projection!!!
I guess that when i was close to the amp, i was standing above its sonic jet stream and i couldn't hear it clearly...and when i started down the ramp, I walked right down into the shotgun blast!!!
I really do dig this rehearsal venue. They only charged us $50 per 3 hour block...not a bad rate at all.
How's your Memorial Day weekend going???
