Stoner Spray Can Gibson Gold Top:

I always kinda liked Gold Top Les Paul's and I have to say, by flat black 50's tribute (how ridiculous to call it a 50's tribute in flat black with a 498T/496R) is pretty dam ugly.

I been thinking - maybe - shooting the top a different color....Gold of course.

I'm not trying for a genuine 1950's look-a-like perfect hue, just something that may look better than the flat black that Gibson painted this with.

So, I took some Gold paint I had on hand - from an art project - and painted a sheet of notbook paper, then cut it out and laid it on the body.

Now my idea is for a satin finish, so if I was to clearcoat this, it would be a satin clear and not a gloss.

Thoughts????

DO IT!! Goldtops are where it's at!

Do it!
Just do the top.
Tape the sides off at the edge of the top.
After the paint sets, scrape the binding where it has paint on it.
No binding? Perfect, just a transitional line to smooth at the edge.
Add clear as needed.

And I agree with Goo. 1, 3 or 4. #2 is way too pale.
