StewMac Is Now Selling Amp Kits...

I guess the Mini-Tweed is like a '57 Champ, and the 15W Tweed is like a '59 Deluxe. Prices are very reasonable for this amount of quality.

I might try one of these kits next year, if they are still available. But in reality... I have no room for another amp. We'll see... :BH:

I’m tempted too, but have been slacking on other projects...then there’s space too...especially if I stop slacking.

Compared to the Trinity 5E3 kit, that also uses Heyboer, this kit looks to be priced competitively. They’re(StewMac) a few dollars cheaper, and they throw in a speaker.

This is an amp type that I do not really have an example of in my little collection.

But wait...the $350 cab option is a complete cab, finished, with no speaker.

So, I guess no oops?

I know they sell cab kits too, but I have one of their finished head cabs, and it’s really nicely made.

Elsewhere it is pointed out they appear to be Mojotone kits with more detailed instructions.
You wont really save money, (Monoprice, etc.) to get an all valve amp.

If you ever wanted to jump down this rabbit hole, (there are pluses and minuses to the kits), the 5F1 Tweed Champ is a great place to get started.
I have been playing mine exclusively this past week specifically because:
1. it is the lowest wattage amp i have and can turn it up loud enough or ride the vol knob into tube OD without any hassle. It is still pretty f'in loud though even with the more inefficient Weber Sig 8 ceramic smooth cone speaker. (NOT the S model)
2. Drive that with a Soul Food (klon type).
3. With a recent P90 guitar acquisition.

:bow::bow:

The additional voicing , variable NFB mods and tone control bring a lot of versatility too..

Yes, Trinity's cabs are finished. But they are extra, and do not include a speaker in the purchase. We all know that Trinity puts out real good stuff. And maybe StewMac is using their big buying power to undercut Trinity and Mojotone. Because... with the StewMac kit you get everything for a grand total of $790 - $765 for the complete kit and $25 for shipping, handling, and tax. Trinity: $445 for the chassis kit, plus $350 for the 1x12 cab, plus $60 for shipping, which equals to $885, but still no 12" Jensen C12Q speaker - which is another $70 from another source... $955!

I mean this in the friendliest way possible. You may want to check your math on the Trinity equation...445 plus 350 is 795 for the kit and cab. 795 plus 60 is 855 shipped for you.
VS 790 shipped to you for the StewMac kit. $65 difference plus a speaker.
I was being positive about StewMac pricing their kit fairly against the first competitor that came to mind to me.
I wasn’t factoring in shipping because that could vary with location...so I was looking at the 795 VS 765.
StewMac $30 less, and they throw in a speaker! Yay!(and they ship cheap)
:D:cheers::dood:

Crap... Please excuse my fuzzy math. You're right... $855! Plus speaker (Musician's Friend @ $68.38/Free Shipping)... $923.38... No Candy!

But google has one all ready assembled for 800.00

I mean its a BLUES deluxe ---reissue--- but--- no assembly (or dreaded evil soldering) involved.......

I've always wanted to try a kit but they seem to only be available in formats I that I can't use. I've no need or interest in a tweed clone, or any Fender model for that matter, and that seems to be the bulk of what is available.
