Yeah, it struck me as a little “ambitious” of an approach!

I asked him how well it seemed to work out for this guy he knew and it seems one big problem was getting guitar players who wanted to do that.

I just responded, “Ya think!”
 
I came up with this really odd tone during a recent session. I can't explain it and I literally stumbled onto the combination of FX, but I liked it so I decided to keep it.

Would work great in genres that use Ean guitars.
 
I still get a kick out of running aoud amp in a live setting. I enjoy demonstrating how my rig has zero feedback, so I frequently let go of the guitar on purpose while standing right in front of the amp.

I'm much the same with my Stratocaster....

I will intentionally dive-bomb it to hell and back and then play open chords just to prove that its in perfect tune.

I always get a group of guitar guys coming up asking how I keep a stock Fender 6 screw in perfect tune with vintage tuners and a brass nut.

Sometimes one wants feedback. Mine will feedback for sure if I leave my hands off and face amp. That way I can use controlled feedback as necessary. Too much gate chokes it, to me.

It's not so much the "gate" as it is just having everything "right." I can induce feedback if I choose too, but I seldom use it except when we cover "Foxy Lady."

Part of my job at the music academy is teaching the students how to manage amps at stage volumes when they are not mic'd.

Almost everything we do is with only the drums and vocals mic'd.
