Stage Left Tech:

There's another solution to the whole stage tech issue: software.

It's not at all uncommon for bands to use click tracks synced to external effects such as lighting and pyrotechnics. The triggers are pre-programmed. A midi controller could be interfaced with the computer running the click track and triggers built into it at certain points in the song. The midi controller could then switch on and off guitar effects as necessary. Malmsteen uses a foot-activated midi controller for his guitar effects, but the midi triggers could come from the computer, too.

In this way, there really is no need for stage techs to turn anything on or off. Once the song starts, all the effects are triggered at pre-programmed points.

Or ...............dont screw over the stage hands----- there is a moral here......Skinny guitar Ghoul got "served"---its that simple---solo STARTED-- stage hand CUT dude off at his big moment-- that was premeditated ---and well timed----

Good points, Smitty....Ghost's entire setup gets larger and more complex every tour and I think we will probably see something like that in the near future.

Listen again....I have some inside background on this event which might help.

This took place during the interlude in Ghost's song "Faith" and it's only a very short section. Ghoul hits his solo cue right on the money and there are no problems, other than his lead patch was not switched on, so his solo is being played on his rhythm patch - which, quite honestly - doesn't sound bad at all - but Ghoul realizes the difference in tone and stops playing....then rolls off his volume and shoots the finger to the backstage tech.

I’m sure you’re correct. But, Adrian’s explanation is funnier!
