The tech's job is to watch his band member of be alert to any visual cues (or voice messages over the Aviom if used) and respond immediately. Also, when a different set of "patches" are used in a song, the tech's job is to switch them seamlessly. Some techs may be texting or whatever, when they should be working...

or nameless ghoul banged stage guys old lady --- or grabbed his Moms butt--- I mean ya never know -- to CLAIM the GHOULISH guitarist was not to blame or --- created a situation enwhich stage hand decided to DOUCHE him--- looked to me like nameless Ghoul almost EXPECTED it-- like he KNEW right away who -- and WHY he had been douched.....

A user board restricts the guitarists movements and creates a potential for failure from a trampled cord, etc. I can tell you - from reliable sources - it was the tech's first - and last - error....

You have to balance the risks. I don't think I could ever leave an instantaneous decision like that to a tech - unless he was of the calibre that service the likes of a Gilmour.

You can always use a wireless.
On occasion, I’ve used a wireless on my guitar even though I have a pedal board at my feet. I’m not tied down and can move around as I wish.
The one area where I will somewhat concede the point is that you have to be sure you’re back at your board when you want to make a change. I’d still rather do that than trust that someone else is gonna do it.

Ghouls are wireless, but a board will require cabling and other support devices....

I've worked as a stage tech, and it really isn't difficult, as long as you are not texting or chatting with others...

That was actually stage right, not left.
Maybe that was the problem. The stage techs got confused between stage left and right and house left and right.
Like, maybe the stage right tech thought the stage left tech was gonna make the switch. Maybe, when he heard the word “right” he was thinking “house right” not “stage right”.
