Stage 65 (old solid state amp)

Sometimes it's just the coolness of the thing. Not to mention the little amp actually sounds pretty nice for an old solid state amp. I suppose I could could always do one of my home made wonder face plates - lol. Hmmm, actually that's an idea.

Not sure yet. I'm thinking about being brave and using ultra fine enamel paint pen. Water slides would be a cool thought. I thought about doing the text in open office, try to match the back ground as close as I can.

Well, printing inkjet on self-sticking laminate is a no go. Even after drying all night it smears and wipes off with ease; gotta use laser I guess. So, I need to find a laser printer or move on to another idea for the labels.

Finally got the Stage 65 chassis put back together. It's working fine, but it seems the original speaker is buzzing. The cone is all but seized up it seems. I don't remember it being that way when I stored it, but, oh well, when I eventually make a cab for it I'll get a 12" WGS American Classic speaker for it. Here's a couple pics:

Thanks jtcnj. For the labels I ended up using laser print water slide decals. First time I've used water slide decals and had to remove and redo one time. They ain't perfectly straight, but not much was in the early 70's, so ya, it works for this amp ;)

Nice $10 project ! The amp cleaned up nicely, the cabinet, not a good husk to start with.

I finally bought a big ole heavy duty Craftsman table saw for cutting wood for cabs, also got a craftsman jigsaw, and a decent router, just gotta get a house with a garage or big ole shed to set stuff up in now - lol. The table saw is way too heavy to pull in and out of the little shed it's stored in now. Oh, and I still have a piece of plyboard Hackmaster gave me too ;)

Getting there, should be too many more years until I finish it...

Crap, I was on a role (mistake wise) !!!
In the picture above the hot/neutral (black/white) wires are hooked up backwards to the switch/fuse. First time I've made this mistake (for reals, man) and did it not once, but twice, in a role even. As I stated, when making the same correction on another post, I took a break from working on the truck, etc to work on my amp projects a bit and evidently I was more distracted than I thought. No excuses though, I should have known better than to 1: wire it this way in the first place and 2: work on electronics when my mind is distracted. MY BAD, man...
