Yay!

I'm 1/3 right, and I win a clock battery! Woohoo!!!

So, Adrian, I'm still curious...do you have four voles in your amp or not?

Dancing with who brung me on all counts.
Epi is an 08 with stock Epi pups....solid body LEster (weights a TON) and bone stock.

SG was previously owned by Gball....all stock save the Tulip Tuners which I added (thanks Goo) and I belive the P.G> which Gball added.
Zebras ala Gibbo in her.

Chibson ...fresh off the boat knock off cheap arse China crap no name junk phony baloney garbage-eola

I need to try this sound comparison thing, too. But, I don't have anything to compare.

I suppose I could do a real Fender amp vs. a processor-based Fender amp model.

Or, I could do a pin dropping vs. a length of 18" rebar dropping.

Yeah...that's the ticket!

we need to do the blindfold test and just a Plexi marshall 50 thru 25w, 4x12, greenbacks .. all on 10! perhaps at one of the " monthly meetings " we could do that in real time. I listened real closely and from what I think I heard all were pretty much the same! If that's true then go to the least expensive and the corporations take a hard hit. I must say thou I can tell a good PAF a mile away ... due to the bloom and 3D nature of their sound. The early Plexi's do not hurt your hearing at 10, all day long! Of course, in case there's a fire there would have to be lots of " Suds " around, just in case .... Hmmmm maybe an old AC30 too

You see how important it is to have good audio gear when you love music as we all do, and also not to have any kind of prejudice regarding tone,

Take your time to read my reply again: first of all I liked all three audios. Second, Adrian's fingers caught my attention more than the guitars themselves. The thing I noticed up front as a listener was that he was playing a damned good set of riffs, and playing them in a cool rhythm. I liked it a lot.

But the one I liked the least was... The Gibson. Why? It could be a plethora of factors. But there you have it.

Tone is in your fingers, babay.

All kidding aside...

There is a lesson to be learned here. Whatever differences anybody heard, I think everyone must admit they were VERY subtle. There was no drastic difference. I dare say, if anyone here were to have heard these samples, without knowing beforehand that they were played by three different guitars, I doubt anyone would instantly think they were played by different guitars. Nothing was so different that couldn't otherwise be explained by relatively minor equalization coupled with some minor adjustments to technique.

Yes, if nobody had told me those were three different guitars, I'd have thought Adrian was just using the tone controls

exactly--- and Thank you Sergio--- you flatter me--- my twisted arthritic paws are nary any where NEAR talented ---and the riff is very simple---if I knew how to write music I could show you ---but....I have not a CLUE wtf I even played.--I can play it again---or something close---i get bored easily and rarely play the same thing twice (you should have seen me trying to remeber WHAT I played --I had to go back and listen to #2 actually 3 times to get the start right for #3)......-- but thats not the point

a-- THANK YOU Sir is the point. :)

AND yes Smitty you are correct---- is the difference REALLY 700.00 WORTH of difference ????? AND if you gave me a 5,000.00 Gibson LEs Paul and a custom signed Eric Clapton 30,000 Les Paul....and a Dean yard sale les paul copy 50.00 ........I will bet you all my eye teeth you would not know the difference ----with EVERY other variable identical ........... you sound----like YOU sound. ;) Kinda nice eh?
