This one showed up today. Just couldn’t pass up the Sweetwater close out pricing. Been playing it for about an hour. And in honor of Marshall, the first guitar played through it was the 81 Les Paul.

Still learning the settings, but man is it sweet. The wife is not home so I could crank it.

Nice amp, but even nicer wall. Man, I am coming over!!!

Nice score that was tempting as all *insert gitchy term here*

Can it do Jazz?
Not a jazz player but if it "can make sounds loud or mellow
Get a second hand guitar
chances are you'll go far
if you get in with the right bunch of fellows..."

But I digress. mellow tones from a Marshall?
Marshallmellow?

Not enough sleep, too much caffeine makes Johnny a bit askew.
But not a dull boy.

Congrats, Don O, on a fine amp at a very fine price.... Timing is everything!

Is it safe to assume that the DSL40 is to Marshall, like the Hot Rod Deluxe is to Fender? Each one seems to be the manufacturer's best seller and the common and affordable workhorse amp for the guitar community.

Each one of these amps also have a big social following, with endless info on mods for them. And just in case you are not aware of the popularity of the DSL40, check this following link that might keep you up at nights:

Don,

FYI check your speaker output. Almost every DSL40C I encounter has the speaker output incorrectly plugged into the 8 ohm jack - should be 16 ohm...

Personally, I'm against mods such as clipping the bright cap (C-19) and other such changes.

I do like the JJ5751 in V1 and I do like my WGS Reaper 55Hz speaker.

I find the amp perfectly capable of doing anything in nearly stock form...

I use my DSL40C frequently for country stuff...very clean if EQ'd properly.
