Speaking of Gibson

I wounder what kind of a chisel job they did installing the humbuckers and where did the stock gold hardware go...........
I was going to put T Tops in my 1972 Les Paul Custom LE 1954 RI thank GOD I didn't it would have destroyed the value

Is the ebony an actual ebony board?
Gibson P90s have been hit and miss with me…my P90 Standard has pickups that I doubt I will ever replace…but my Special Tribute…I was happy to change them out.
If the ebony is ebony, I would slap some T-Top-ish p/ups in, and carry on. But that’s just me…I have a few P90 axes kicking around.

If you don't have a P90 guitar, I'd make the trade.
Then again, I have no objection to purple.

Even if you do have a P90 axe - you're not happy with the tone of the black one, right?
So your choices are to let it go, or if you really like the feel of it, give it different pickups.
Right ,Not happy with 490’s. I do have pickups I plan to use for it.just being lazy but the guy responded once. Nothing useful so it’s probably not happening.

What chisel job , where? What gold hardware?
There never was any gold hardware on the ebony studio. The knobs and rings were changed. Other than that, it’s stock.

I believe it is an ebony board.
Due to this guy not responding , T tops may be in the future but I have some fancy pickups I got from headache. Seymour Duncan “Pearly Gates”

This video is making me wonder about changing the pickups. The Pearly Gates sound a bit cleaner and maybe more defined but they do not sound extremely different to me.
In the room could be different.
He is using a helix.

I actually like the 498 in my Studio as it is a modern-sounding, high(er) output pickup. That being said it is still an alnico magnet and so the low end will never make me happy and it will never be tight enough for palm muting, so I am still probably going to change it out to a 500T or Dirty Fingers.
