Speaker ???

It came out of a Carvin Vintage 16 and is supposed to be original. But, I'm not thinking it is. The color is kind of an off purple'ish that looks like it has dulled towards brown I guess? The finish reminds me of something you'd see on a Celestion. The Vintage 16's came with either a Celestion or Carvin speaker. I'm leaning on the speaker being a CTS. It's a nice sounding speaker and can take what ever the amp throws it's way. But, between the amp, the codes, and the finish I can't seem to settle on the what, who, where, when's of the speaker.

I’m gonna hazard a guess that it was pulled from some cool 70s amp.

What year is the Carvin amp?

I have a 4x12 that’s CTS loaded. It’s a 1973 Kustom, but I didn’t bother trying to date the actual speakers...they could be older than the assembled cab. They are original though. I like them very much, as they have a warm, fatness to them. They are not the same model as you have though...mine are square magnet.

Bastard, from my initial clueless about CTS speakers first thing this AM till now. Am I correct the square ones are Alnico and the round are ceramic?

Also, I wonder what Ohms Drumoid's speaker is.

The circuit board in it states it's a 2002 Rev-C board.
It's a great sounding speaker for sure.
The coloring of the basket I think is what is throwing me off - like it's a CTS Celestion ;)

It's an 8 ohm speaker in it.

Glad you can at least tell that spec, drumoid. Most important detail after the brand LOL

I'm just trying to figure what the speaker is for sure. I figured there are people on TTR who have had there hands on a lot more speakers than and probably longer than I have. Just a curiosity thing really.

It doesn't look this color?

CTS did oem speakers for lots of amps over the decades...my first thought was out of an old Kustom, or Kasino. They used that dust cap on a couple of models.
This one comes to mind...

FWIW... When Carvin introduced their "Vintage" line of amps, they were all equipped with Chinese-made Celestion Vintage 30s. As the years went by, Carvin started equipping the Vintage series with the Carvin GT12s, but an option for the Celestion V30 was available for some extra money. AFAIK, the Carvin GT12 was rumored to be made by Eminence.

Drumoid's speaker is neither of two I mentioned. More than likely, it's a CTS.
