Want to pair up my 100watt Jensen Jet Tornado Neodymium 12" 16 ohm speaker (98db) and weighs 4.0 pounds) with another lightweight speaker.

The 65watt Celestion G12 Neo Creamback Guitar Speaker 12" 16 Ohm is another option, weighing only 3.71 pounds and also rated at 98db.

How would this pair up???

My only other options are much heavier...

(2) Celestion 70/80's at 6.5 pounds each.

(1) EH 12VR75 at 8.6 pounds (100db)

(1) WGS Reaper 55Hz at 10 pounds

All are within 3 db of each other and all are 16 ohm.

Thoughts??

Its not loudness, its depth.

I've used a 2x12 in the past and really liked them. My custom marine grade mahogany finger-joint 2x12 cabinet is under 30 pounds and is only 2" wider than my single 12" DSL40C.

For sure. There's nothing like moving air with a 2x12 or 4x12. No issues with mic'ing a single speaker for volume but you never get quite the visceral kick in the pants that you do multi-driver cabs. The only question to me is: sealed back or open back.

As far as the OP, I've never tried that particular Jensen. To be honest, I have never felt any love for Jensen speakers and have removed them from every amp I've had that they came in and replaced with Celestions, so I am probably not the best resource for comment there. But I would definitely pair that Creamback with just about anything.

The cabinet is an open back, with a large oval opening, so I guess that would be technically ported???

Probably more "partially open" since I think technically ported refers to a closed-back system with a tuned port to add emphasis to certain freqs. Mesa also makes Road King cabs that are half closed/half open to get the best of both worlds.

I can dig it, with respect to the Jensen's...I had a bunch of reward points (from buying multiple speakers in my tone quest) so I got the Jensen Jet 100 watt neodymium basically for free. It's only 4 pounds and sounds surprisingly good.

I am really considering pairing it with the 65watt Celestion G12 Neo Creamback 12" 16 Ohm because it looks favorable/comparable "on paper" to the Jensen Jet:

Yes. I just messaged the builder. The back has an opening as wide as the speakers

He probably needs 2 cabs because he's playing outside, and it's hard for both sides of the stage to hear him.
The monitors maybe could carry the load if the band kept loudness under control.
I know what it's like on a wide stage outside...
the sound is sucked up like there's a vacuum and it's difficult to hear the whole band in those circumstances.
But depending on the PA becomes more and more complicated unless there's a sound crew handling all the technical aspects of trying to balance the whole band and the vocals through stage monitors.

We seldom use a PA for instruments, mostly vocals...
