Sp8ctre and RVA's Guitar Adventure

Take no prisoners, spare no wood

TR completely loose:

Note the last 3 side dots - peek-a-boo! It was twisted and "lumpy". It is now straight and flat.

I don't play up there anyway...now if the fret wire will hurry up...
It will play just fine up there. If the fret dots loosen, simply take some of that rosewood dust you have and fill it in - good as new and a perfect match.

This does look spectacularly impressive.

However, despite huge praise for RVA's application, I reserve final comment until we see whether the damn thing finally works as it should once all the work has been completed! Regardless, bloody fine effort, Sir.

Agreed - there is still the question of whether there is enough wood left that it won't simply fold in half. (I'm sure it will be OK - the truss rod will hold it)

I'd love to know the history of that neck - I've never seen anything like it.

Yes im curious of what happened to the neck.Is the Rosewood subject to twisting or was it just made wrong or what happened. The Fender Maple Tele necks seem to be tough as nails.

One thing occurs to me. So much wood has come off the top that it may need a shim to lift it up a bit.

The neck was purchased directly from a seller in Brazil. It may not have cured properly prior to shipping to the US. I live in an area where humidity averages around 20% sometimes less. I work in an area where humidity hovers around 45%.
So the guitar was going back and forth when I had it here in SoCal.

As for shims...I sent some along with the guitar, so Ray should have them if needed.

I will use the shim when I put the neck back on. I think it is safe to assume it will be needed

Looking good! Another RVA bold project but nothing lost if it fails. Even the time lost will be worth the experience gained.
A replacement neck can still be had to come away with a good player, even if it is not the all rosewood desired.
And - the highly coveted magic dust is worth its weight in err, well, rosewood dust.

It could be used ceremoniously I suppose.
You could sprinkle a little on guitars you sell and are shipping and cast a spell to ward off the evil spirits that lurk in the UPS, USPS, and FedEx trucks.
And the douchebags who steal packages off front door steps.
