'SOUTH" Song 6 2019...for the Swamp Boyz & girlz

Very good work and layering!!!

Holy Biscuits, Man!!!! That's more gear than I've used on the past 20 recordings for hire here at the studio... :-)
Thank you ! i work to get main sound. for rhythm ..1 setting on amp with guitar..then voice goes on
2nd setting is lead..i try to just pop it..i like amp character
bass strati in

also its designed to be played live when we get to..am only guitarist & got to be simple..i try to make the songs very easy. Found out year ago..the audience isnt like us..they want to sing along..they dont care too much about things we do..they wanna dance or rock....drums & bass can do more to influence that am learning. Next songs after a brief break..def going more bass & drum effort..found that out last 2 songs....so much less needs done on guitar to carry the song

am so used to taking 2 amps for gigs..just in case ..

Very wise approach!!!

A very popular song we often performed is "Youth Gone Wild" by Skid Row. It is a very intricate song and its hard to get it 'right,' and not many cover it for this reason. We created a simplified version that is more guttural, less intricate and easier to play well and in time. I got to a point where I chose overall quality over technical prowess....

I am not sure the admiration of a musical neanderthal has any real value, but you have it nonetheless.

Whatever you are doing...keep it up...it's working... :)

May everything you touch turn to gold...

Thanks !! I think over the years, the approach is..we have to do all the work...book-promote-hold the show....Got into the mode..when finally get to play...Basically wanted it to be set up as practice. Learnig to function off clean-mild OD-Crunch then a lead setting easily done. Then switch guitars for the flavors. For us..exactly like the recording..no...close & raw rock..def....then we got into a very audience interactive show....going into r&b & funk in a hard rock show is crazy fun...if my cuz is with.....he sometimes brings an upright bass...we do cabaret....then crush it..the dynamics & entertaining value keeps people moving. Prob will be 74 Super Reverb-RAT-SG-LPJ & Strat used live..thats it

I wouldn't say neanderthal approach..i say strait up..lets see what i got...dont need nothing...dont hide..no effects.....just the way rock was done for real or jazz or Motown..It makes such a consistent sound from practice to studio to stage....this is dif appoaches..they all work..i like neanderthal label tho.....give a me club i guess...or an An Ampeg SVT & Fridge

When I mentioned 'musical Neanderthal,' i was referring to me and not describing your approach.

I'm in in high praise of your methodology....

Hey!!! At the very least I could peddle merchandise for you and do magic tricks!!! :-)

Or, if we lived closer...you might be peering out a 1/4" gap in your Venetian blind saying, "Oh poop! Here they come again and one of them has a pie!"

The hardest part...for me...is realizing that I'm 53. I dont feel it. But, I kinda have to act in an 'age appropriate ' fashion and I catch myself slipping sometimes.

Our singer told me a while back that we should take a few styling cues from Motley Crue. I laughed and replied, "if any of us walk out dressed like Vince, somebody's going to jail for Elder Abuse..."
