IMHO Ringo Starr is a good drummer.
More than good, very good, maybe excellent.
To me it's about the things he did not do...
...did not speed up.
...did not slow down.
...did not solo over the vocals.
...did not die from substance abuse.
...did not put himself above the song.
...did not later fade quietly into the sunset.
...did not become a parody of the band that made him famous.
He was all about the song
and not about the drummer.
What more do you want?
The name of the band was The Beatles.

---many Folks THink Frank Marino is a drag queen in vegas, and that Ace Frehley cant play for poop as well ----but I liked them.....they where why I started playing and Page is on that list as well. So bash away.
He has done more than any of us have or ever will to influence rock n roll be that for the good or for the bad.
far more than Say John Meyer or others who get currently "bandied" about as "great " players (Meyer plays like a limp wristed little girl)
Elvis is a Legend ---- by all accounts REALLY couldnt play a guitar for poop----- shall we bash him as well or did his hip shaking and quivering lip make it "o.k." to like him???
THink about this --------the fact that Page achieved ROck Idol/Legend status and his name is "known" by many--even non musicians in the world today--and he "CANT PLAY FOR poop"----IMHO makes him all that much better
---gives hope to the rest of us talent-less hacks
either way He sure pulled the wool over a lot of eyes for a lot of years............must suck to be him.........

As for the Grammy's, just like the hall of fame, it is a business. Why would put any credence in the opnion of a bunch of old men and ladies who's purose is ratings for the award show itself and subsequent records sales? How could you possibly think that this selection process has any validity whatsoever? If anything, it is putting the result before the anyalysis...they were chosen because they had record sales. You would be better off arguing why they had record sales.

Agreed. In fact, you would have had a better argument if you said that Zep as a whole was great. I would have a tough time disagreeing, even though they are a group of thieves.
