Songs with Riffs that stand out and grab ya

Beatles - I feel fine

Queen - Another One Bites the Dust

Police - Message in a bottle (actually two major riffs, one on guitar, the other one on bass)

All those riffs are strong enough to support a singer with just that riff and nothing else. (Which means that we are working on the last two in our duo and have the 1st on our waiting list...)

Bea, While I don't get to chat with you much, I do read and enjoy your posts. Just a little message to let you know it's nice having your input. Great seeing you.

Haha Smitty, Iron Butterfly was too obvious I passed on posting it, but since JT brought up Zep n Skynyrd, I will add when the Levee Breaks and Gimme Back My Bullets ( incidentally my favorite Skynyrd tune) It is just something about the gritty riff layered with searing lead guitar, powerful bass lines, and drumming that just accents the heck out of the tune.

I was told that this opening riff was an exercise from his guitar teacher. When Axle heard him practicing it he wrote words for it. Do not know if that’s true, but that is one heck of a riff without having to move position on the neck.

This is the song I have dedicated to my daughter that passed away last October. RIP Chari
