Sometimes...you just have to say

Just more marketing people justifing there jobs. I was a hourly employee at a papermill for 34 years i know how things work. Plus if that is a blunder for Gibson there will be no consiquences for the Company guy that thought it up

A series of decisions by committees is irrelevant to the fact that's it's a bad look for Gibson to once again give thought to bringing a "Les Paul" look to one of the acoustic guitar models they manufacture.

I own quite a few acoustic guitars and I have been struggling with decisions recently between choosing to purchase a Gibson or going with a Martin D-42 that has an awesome bass presence.

Nonetheless, although i can afford it, at my age, it's helluva lot of $$$ to shell out for either of those acoustic guitars.

Has anyone here at TTR ever listened to Johnny Cash' cover recording of "Hurt"?.

Youtube videos show Cash playing a D-42, but it was Mike Campbell who played guitar when it was recorded in the studio.

You all know where to look for the vids.
 
I have no issue with these and can see a lot of people wanting something like them. Really, the only thing I don't like is the Les Paul silkscreen on the headstock, otherwise I think they are pretty cool.

I understand what you're saying. Every brand/model guitar I own is special in it's own way to me.
 
When I think of Les Paul acoustic the Custom Shop made from 2000 to 2004
I almost got one but my 1992 Parker Fly Deluxe filled the bill.

Same here. Realistically, I think the price tag puts it out of reach for many players, $4k is a pretty good chunk of change.

But, putting all that aside, I've got no issues with it. I'm more partial to the vintage sunburst model for the acoustic. Aside from the price, my big decision point would be what it sounds like plugged in.

I don't really have a serious issue with using the Les Paul name, either. I do roll my eyes at it a bit, though, as it seems a bit gimmicky, but I'm not seriously put-off by it.

Pricey and gimmicky.
But as far as acoustics go, I like it. Not that many with AAA maple tops.
