So, now im genuinely scared and concerned

Well I got the test at my doctor about an hour ago. While they did offer a rapid test, they explained why they hate to issue it and didn't want to give me that one: which is because its not as accurate, especially among asymptomatic cases. So instead, they conducted the standard test to get a more accurate report. They said I should get a result within 48hrs and to remain quarantined, which is ok.

On a side note, i told them where I was working at when I was exposed and how the hospital informed us that these were their first two confirmed cases. The doctor shook his head and told me " I've sent 32 positive cases from here to that hospital in the past month alone." So yay on the hospital for their transparency with the workers lol

Anywho, thanks everyone for saying a kind word or two and checking up on me! I really do appreciate that; you folks are top shelf!

I’m assuming by standard test, you mean the swab up the nose. After a coworker tested
Pos back in July, just felt it was prudent to get tested. Assumed it would be neg. and it was. However, after the technician violated by nasal passage and sinuses, I’m pretty sure she lit up a cigarette. Hope it was as good for her as it was for me.

Seriously though. Hang in there. I’m sure it’s coming back negative. I’d have to think by now you’d be feeling symptoms had you been infected.

Alright, so i finally just got my test results and am 100% cleared! They had me worried because it was written down as a suspected Asymptomatic case, where i was directly exposed and i had muscle soreness, headache and a bit of a runny nose but it turns out, its just a seasonal allergy/cold side effects. They told me the test was very accurate since I waited the 5 1/2 days after exposure, so im good to go!

Thanks everyone for the kind the words and positive vibes! Really do appreciate that. This was the most scared i had been on a medical test probably ever

Great news my brother , now you can rest your mind from worry and concentrate on riffing.

Im very happy for you!!!

Cheers

Really good news Mike. Can’t wait until they roll out an effective vaccine and we can put this sh#t behind us.
Thank you so much my friend! Yeah im really rooting for these Pfizer and Moderna vaccines that are showing 90-94.5% effect rates and are supposedly ready for initial distribution as early within 30-45 days. Its gonna be a few months before we have enough to cover everyone but its a start! Id say elderly and high risk people are first priority and thats fine by me

My wife is going to visit her parents in early December for her dad’s 85th BD. The MIL has ALS, so they are both in that high risk category. The wife is going to self quarantine for 14 days at our lakeside place and not interact with anyone other than me bringing her supplies to the front door (I’ll just leave them on the porch). Who would have thought we’d have something like this a year ago? This is truly a once in 100 year (or more) sh#t storm.

It IS bizarre. I mean you never heard of something like this except in apocalyptic movies within our lifetimes. Prior, there were things like Spanish Flu, Cholera, Bubonic Plague etc but like you said, it was over 100 years ago. We've faced bad diseases like SARS, Avian Flu, H1N1 Swine Flu, Ebola but largely, we got control of it globally fairly quickly, despite all of them wrecking havoc and taking many lives in their wakes.

This thing though, it just keeps coming and they cant put a lid on it. Some countries handled containment swiftly like New Zealand but elsewhere, its went through 2nd and 3rd waves already, each worse than the previous. Hopefully this vaccine will be the tool that squashes it like Smallpox was eventually handled. But like Smallpox, it will take a maximum global effort and EVERYONE is going to have to move in the same direction.

(Ironically, i was born after the eradication of Smallpox and thus never got the vaccine once the WHO ended production. My folks though have the divots in their arms from it)

I remember in the early 60’s at grade school we’d get a vaccine (don’t remember what it was for), but they gave it to us kids somehow suspended in a sugar cube. We each got a Dixie cup with the cube and certainly us young kids eat that stuff in a heart beat.

Great news!
Hope a successful and say vaccine is available soon, too.
Dont know if I will take it the first year; probably not.

Wife and I both feeling ill since Sat/Sun. after we got the flu shot Friday evening (only the 2nd year for me).
Hope you feel better! Sucks to hear that. Hopefully its just a side effect of the shot and nothing bigger. I just took my first one ever last month, arm felt like a pile of concrete lifting it for about 3 days lol

Another vaccine they quit giving! Sounds like the polio vaccine, which was awesome for kids because you got to dodge a needle and got a treat instead lol
