So My Wife Wants Me to Teach Her Acoustic Guitar...

...and I'm not sure I want to.

Here's the thing...my wife is smart and learns things with seeming ease. If she puts her mind to anything she will accomplish it...I know once she starts she is going to eclipse me in no time...

But, of course I will teach her anyway because it will be cool for her to start enjoying something I'm into!

Oh, by the way my Guild M120E in no longer for sale...

I've tried to teach my wife guitar. She definitely has the brains to do it. She also has the discipline.

Honestly, I'd get a kick out of her learning guitar, even just to strum an acoustic.

However, her desire to learn it subsides when she realizes she'll have to trim her fingernails short.

But, she plays keys, so that's cool, too,

Does your wife smoke?:D

My advice is to pay for some lessons from a good guitar teacher... one that she
can trust and listen to. A good teacher is likely to get her started in ways that the
rest of us might not think of.

After a series of lessons from someone like that, she might
want to jam with you and see how you do things... learn some songs in common.
but she'll have the pro lessons too, and the she can make up her own mind.

After that, she may want to pick out her own guitar.
Make a quest of it... ROAD TRIP!
She may think it's cool to play one of yours, and she may dream
of having her own. Something to talk about together.

You may be right that I should get her started with a pro...I may teach her bad habits...good thing is she loves the Guild and has been trying to get it away from me for a while...so now it's hers to learn on. It's a parlor size and she is digging that and it's easy to play, broke in and set up very well...

She's gonna GAS for YOUR guitars!!
Is that Guild as easy to play as an electric?
My cheapy Yamaha sure isnt.

+1 on the lessons.

Maybe she starts buying guitars without discussing it with you first, egged on by some GAS enabling forum lizards!
Turn her on to an EPI P90 Special all set up nice.
nice and light, pretty Yellow.....
Ya BABY!!!

If she wants to pull a Dylan and go electric I'll be happy to oblige her! I have a brand new 6lb Epiphone SG Special I in Metallic Pelham Blue that I'm sure she will love...

I love the expression on Robert Plant's face at the beginning! He seemed a little speechless there. It looked like Obama was grooving to the tune. Was that Jason Bonham on the drums? I never saw Anne Wilson sing like that before. She's a very talented singer indead. Maybe you can teach your wife the song Barracuda.;)
