so I ask --- whats changed????

Nothing has changed. As long as a few key players are controlling the money, nothing will change.

ANd understand not trying to make this political as --- that is verboten---

just saying -- the "issues" of man ---- never seem to change -- the names-- the details yes-- but really--- no change -- so WHY worry ---

It's always political if you believe, as I do, that all people relationships are based in many elements, a major one being: power; it cannot be escaped.

"the issues of man" are certainly fluid and reframed consistently by a whole host of social 'actors/arbitrators' such as law makers, media outlets (say the BBC) and social media companies (say Google) who play a massive political role in framing the space that people are "allowed" to live their lives in. I don't personally think that taking an apathetic approach helps society although it certainly allows oneself to get through the day in a more relaxed manner which may afford one a more comfortable life.

To believe that nothing changes or is changeable is to, at least some extent, give away your freedom(s).

What has changed?
Generations of education camps designed to brainwash young voters, also called colleges.
The call of activists is now not just to be heard, and support their cause, but to vehemently stifle any opposing view or opinion.

I am labelled a bigot because I am white, mostly conservative and believe in traditional family values, the US Constitution, equal justice / enforcement of and protection under the law, the limits of government, our borders, go to work or go hungry unless you really cant.

Also, because I am only tolerant of other opinions or lifestyles I do not agree with.
I am labelled a hater because I don't celebrate, or support them.

Truth!

go to work or go hungry

not to be contrary -- but ---
that is a law of the jungle not man

the fittest survive the weak die---is how NATURE sets the course-- and how species evolve ---I see that regularly here on the farm --

part of the human condition is the system tolerating --rewarding --protecting-- and assisting the weak, slow,dumb......lazy....to proliferate and make more -- of that ilk---

but that isnt "changed"

the colleges-- were doing the same 5 decades ago--
solders were coming home from a war to protests and hate--
cops were "killing races" in the California Streets 5 decades ago
pushing hate for the "man" ---
division of colors/creeds all pushed and stirred by the media -- same-- same -- same

its not REALLY any different the individual names-- titles--locations etc have -- but the overall "vibe" has not , in my opinion anyway

You guys are all right. And while I don't have any deeper philosophical thoughts on the matter let me put it this way: I am cynical enough about both the World that we live in and the one we'll leave behind that I chose not to have any children. I consider kids a vanity project anyway, but mostly I felt that I didn't have the right to bring someone into this mess against their will.

Can the people who run this forum bring back my
"He's not my President!" thread and tack this one onto it please?
I feel it's unfair to me if that one was deleted and this one stays.

Or maybe we can start a "The 9/11 planes were holograms." thread?

Either that or bring back "my" thread.
But...
I am only 1 voice and do not feel a thread
should be eliminated because 1 person says so.

That is actually the very thing we are talking about in the thread.
I say it stays unless the majority of us feel otherwise.

To be clear the thread was not and is not "political" in intent ---it is more a HUMAN CONDITION observation that the songs -- the vibe and the feel of the "public" consciousness "in general" was and is unchanged in the last 50 years.

I believe the other threads mentioned were specifically political directed-- though I maybe wrong --

I have no qualms NUKING the thread if its deemd to do so----

BUT in fairness to other posters I to would like a consensus to their intellectual property removal--- prior to hitting the RED BUTTON (oh the power) :)

like how I also claimed we are "intellectuals" --- BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH-- riot---

I'm all for it Tony Manhattan...bring back your thread because your beloved country is in dire straits. We need to discuss this because it is such an important issue. And don't worry...the southern district of New York will be on top of him once he is impeached. You guys and gals down in the good 'ol U.S. of A. are being tricked & treated by an orange Trumpkin.:(

To clarify, I mean those who are physically and mentally "normal" CAN work, should work.
I believe in a safety net for those who CANNOT, but not for those who WILL NOT.

But my point regarding what has changed is maybe some of the results of what has not changed; I see now what you were getting at.

The basic human condition has not changed; that is why Shakespeare is just as relevant today.

I have no concern one way or the other on the thread being nuked. I realized a long time ago we are not going to be able to have civil debate if politics get involved.

This thread didn't seem political to me...but I may just be looking at it differently.

ZACTLY----and forsoothusth

:)

it was both shocking-- and oddly comforting -- while being a tad depressing when I reached this epiphany -----
