Ill refrain from using the now banned/censored word but you all know what im talking about in the following

Tuesday, my really worthless (and now fired helper) came dragging into work for the 3rd straight day an hour late. We were working in this enormous open factory thats being built and there was roughly 8 of us spread throughout the building. We were pulling large cable for power and he seemed perfectly fine. Our boss slipped up and mentioned that he and I were going to two other jobs the next following days and then my helper asked where he was to report to? The boss had informed him that he most likely was going to lay him off due to his poor performance and tardiness.

Fast forward to about 11am, he starts saying : " oh i feel weak, i dont feel good" i asked what was wrong and he said he felt weak and feverish. I asked him " Why the hell did you show up to work then if you felt ill??? Thats reckless and endangering". So he was then dismissed early at 12pm. Later that evening, i developed a headache.

The next day, he messages me and said " I have a fever and aches, i need to get a test". So i begin freaking out, told the boss what was going on and we decided to get tested as a preventative deal. Later that afternoon, i begin this nasty sinus pressure and drip but no cough, no fever.

Went to a handful of places to get a test but everyone of them were booked full. Ultimately had to drive a few towns over, ordered a Rapid Test kit ( the last one in my county believe it or not) and took it in the parking lot. It was negative.

I felt pretty decent throughout the next day and messaged the helper asking about his results. Nothing. So last night, i began to feel crappy from the sinus stuff, took some medicine, fell asleep. I get woken up by my wife who is blowing gunk out of her nose and coughing at 4am. Now im worried.

So this morning i took the second of the two Rapid tests , which was 36hrs between one another as recommended. After 18 minutes i noticed a barely visible line on the positive indicator. I panicked, showed my wife and now, im an hour into waiting at the nearby Med Express for both a rapid and pcr test because the entire lot is full.

I spent all but the last two months of this " friend of the globe" dodging it in a hospital of all places, 14 months straight before i was able to take a "needle of sorts" back in April. And here i am now possibly a positive case. Im not worried about me or my wife but my kids im mortified for, because we live in a small house and its impossible to seal yourself completely off and they arent able to take that " little needle of sorts"

I hope you dodge this bullet and just have a cold, Mike.

For reference, the word of Mike's illness is not censored because it is offensive - it was censored because it lead to debates which have no place here. So let's see if we can support Mike through this difficult time without engaging in any such debates. Mike, my apologies in advance, but if the debates start, I will have no choice but to promptly delete this thread

I understand entirely Ray and I appreciate your kind words my friend. And I'll second your stance here and say that I absolutely do NOT want this to be a debate. I will personally request this thread's closure if it goes into that territory, if no one hasn't already.

I hadn't been around much these last few days, kind of quietly dealing with this but I just wanted to sort of explain what was happening on my end as well. Like you, i REALLY hope this is a common cold/sinus issue that i do tend to flock towards around this time of year. The scare from work and possibly positive result this morning though, definitely changes things

Hope you feel better soon Mike!
I wasnt aware there was something banned or deleted.

When I was sick, I was careful overall with mask, hand washing /sanitizer when in the kitchen, etc. and no one else in my house got sick.
Thank you my friend! Thats the angle ive been going with as well: keeping away as much as possible and disinfecting around me throughout the day. Only viable approach at this point

Hoping for a speedy recovery Mike, I've been fully vaxxed since April, because of the results of my surgery and the fact that I had my spleen removed (A major defense organ.) when I was sixteen I was qualified to get a booster which I did last month. I still wear a mask when I go out, better safe than sorry.

A couple of weeks ago, my son came home from his Mom's with a runny nose, sinuses blocked and a big cough. Dismissed it as his ragweed season allergies. A couple of days later I had the sniffles also and a big cough. And The Missus got it the day after that. However, the cough was very "productive" as drs call it. Lots of coughy byproducts, won't go into details. Quite different from the "dry cough" that appears on the Ontario MOH list of symptoms to look for when identifying the unfriendly virus. NO fever whatsoever. NO body / joint aches. Nonetheless, I immediately booked and took a test at a nearby testing centre. Came back negative next day. Was back to normal(ish) a day or two later. Sure enough, it was just a summer cold.

EDIT:
Just read your latest posts... that really sucks, but here's hoping for a very mild case and a quick recovery for you and your wife, Brother! I'm positive your kids's immune systems will take care of any threat like it's nothing. Let us know if we can help in any case!

Mike, if you and your wife have already got the full shots, I would say chances are VERY good that it's just a head/summer cold. Especially if your kids have not shown any worrying symptoms.

In any case, here's hoping for a negative pcr (cold only) and a quick recovery, Brother!
Thank you bud, unfortunately it came back positive in 8 mins.

Yes, I just read your previous posts. That sucks, but your being immunized fully should make ALL the difference in the world. Starting with the reduced risk for spreading to others and having any severe symptoms, even if you're positive.

As I said in the edit to my original post, here's hoping for a very mild case and a quick recovery for you and your wife, Brother! I'm positive that your kids's immune systems will take care of any viral threat like it's nothing. Let us know if we can help in any case!
