On my custom SG build, I'm shooting for a super smooth, 400# finish, then black stain to enhance the grain, more sanding, then amber stain, some light sanding followed by a mix of dark walnut and mahogany, followed by boiled linseed oil and topcoat with DuPont 380S clear lacquer....

Be careful with this stuff. It is highly toxic. It requires a respirator, full skin coverage and goggles

Some of you may recall I had a problem with D'Addario EXL strings with the ball end pulling out of the high e string.
out of 3 or 4 3-packs I had at least 5 pull out.
I used the last pack up recently, and yup, the ball pulled out.
I emailed D'Addario, included a picture, and they sent me a 3 pack, 5 hi e singles, and a gadget called the Headstand.
I will give it a try but I dont see it replacing the wood blocks with a rag over it I normally use.
Very nice of them to do this.

So anyway, I had a long conversation with Adrian via email updating each other with our life updates. We are still great friends, he is just too busy working copious hours and needs to focus his time on his career. So anyway, looks like summer might actually be coming to New England. The humidity has climbed, therefore I spent part of last night night lowering the tuning on eight guitars.
I’ve been busy all day working on the house, and going out with the missus later. Tomorrow I’ll retune a few more.
Found a broken drone G string on my Rock 330-12, so I’ll have to change strings on that as well.
