So anyway...
I’m stuck at a wedding....
I’m bored stiff and there isn’t even a live band.
No live music REALLY SUCKS.
Gotta love marketing.........verbally polishing turds to valued treasures....Collings has taken "salesmanship" to a new level. Check out this product description for a $4,725 laminate construction guitar
The I35 LC is the result of a custom laminated construction technique that Bill Collings and his R&D team developed in pursuit of the best tonal qualities of vintage semi-hollow guitar design. When crafting instruments designed to be used electrically at higher volumes, the resonant qualities of a guitar need a high degree of focus to achieve some of the classic semi-hollow guitar tones. The I35 LC is the first of a line of laminate instruments designed to respond acoustically in perfect harmony with their electronics. Custom crafted in house for each guitar, the Collings laminate line has provided another unique way for us to voice our instruments for superior response and tone. The I35 LC features a custom laminate maple top, sides and back and an all mahogany neck. The I35 LC is among our most articulate and versatile electric models.
Nothing like plywood for superior harmony, balance and tone. What a bargain!!
On the contrary. I will no longer purchase a Collings, although I had previously considered it.Gotta love marketing.........verbally polishing turds to valued treasures....
Did you order 1 ??

My post was merely intended to introduce this topic as a segue to discussing your ES335, Maria I believe, that should be sold to me. As you recall from our PMs, there is a deadline quickly approaching. Thank you for your attention to this matterOK.
First hand information incoming.
I have played a number of Collings guitars,
including several of their "ES 335s".
Every one of them was a very fine guitar
as far as feel, sound and workmanship.
but...(Uhoh)
Even though they were all excellent guitars,
none were any better than a good Gibson.
They were consistently good, every one.
The extra $1,000.00 or so is what you pay
if you are too lazy to hunt out a good Gibby.
All the Collings I played were very good.
No hunting involved. You pay for that.
but...(There it is again!)
If you are willing to go hunting in Gibsonland
you will do better and save that thousand dollars.
The ES 335s I have are all better than the Collings
"ES 335s" I played in every way.
If you want to argue that a Collings is $1,000.00 +
better than Vesuvius or Maria or The Blonde Girl,
(Yes, she told me her name!) go right ahead,
but you're gonna lose that argument fast.
Once again I present to you,
each and every one less than half the price
of their Collings counterparts:
Vesuvius

Maria

and last but in no way least,
The Blonde Girl.

Thank you! That means a lot to me, in and of itself.I know that was the purpose of your post Ray.
That's why I bit, hook line sinker pole and boat.
