So, anyways, why does it seem that backyard projects take so damn long to complete????.

We have new vinyl fencing up now since this photo was taken, but the landscape project still has a way to go.

Wife wants an aluminum patio cover and this got me thinking...why couldn't we mount solar panels to the patio cover instead of the house???

We also imported a Sacuanjoche plant, native to Nicaragua, where my wife is from. Beautiful, fragrant flowers. This will eventually grow into a huge tree, up to 20 feet tall:

It's the national flower of my wife's country...

Been seeding in the bare patches in the front yard...used some of those ultra-sonic gopher get-ridders. No more mounds!@!@!

Looks good, Robert.

If you're a Kitty-Cat person, young ones are great at controlling gophers and mice. They'll even bring the dead evidence inside of the house to provide you with proof of their worth. Maybe even entertain you by showing you their juggling skills while you're watching TV!

How long that take??? took me a year to get a new roof.....your going to fast man pace yourself.....

It's in the works, along with a full aluminum awning. We have 65-75mph winds regularly here on the mountainside, so any awning has to literally hurricane strength to pass code. We want to mount solar system atop the awning with a Tesla battery.

We switched the entire house to LED lighting and shaved $60/month off our Edison bill. We are in the middle of summer and pur highest bill thus far has been $110, and that's keeping the house 78 degrees 24/7.

Our daughter ties the dogs out front for baths. That's the purpose of the rope. That way, all the water gets used in the lawn.

We bought this house under appraisal, mostly because of the backyard, so we had about $30,000 of "instant equity" so to speak.

The money I had saved for a 2019 Shelby Mustang went into this project.

We actually had the hardest time scheduling the crews from all the different companies to be on-site at the same time. Weight restrictions in this area meant we could only bring partially full cement trucks in at one time.

We still have a little bit more to do...

The neighbor across the street has a love of old trucks. The neighbor to his left has a Ferrari F430 and our next door neighbor has a Bentley Continental. The #1 car in this area are the Maserati Ghibli's and Levante's...probably seeing so many because of the current leasing deals I see advertised.

We are the odd ducks with old Ford's...

Do you plan to buy a solar panel system, or lease one?

We went with a leasing contract. For the last 3 years, we're averaging around 35% to 40% savings on our electric bill.

I'm still undecided. My colleague bought a complete system with the Tesla battery. Not sure that is "leaseable. "

Our solar system is thru Solar City. As of 2 years ago, Solar City became a subsidiary of TESLA, Inc.

There is a lot of turmoil going on right now with how TESLA is going to continue in the solar panel business. I hope we don't get screwed... :eek:

We put in our 7kW system in 2008 (33 panels). The feds had the 30% rebate and the city of Anaheim had a great rebate program. All said and done we paided about $1.15 a watt installed. We too have all LED lights and I have many vampires on power strips and individual switches. It’s nice not having an electric bill.
