So Anyway...

So anyway, tomorrow morning I will begin the process of setting up my basement workshop, with the main focus being on wood working. I'm very excited. Initially, it will be very rudimentary, yet functional. It will evolve as I do, and as I find my direction.

The idea recently hit me like a ton of bricks. You can bet music will be my main inspiration. I still need to acquire some important tools and even more education. However, it's not a race, and I have my life to figure out the details, but the seed is planted and I am pumped!!

Nice!@!!

Had breakfast on the balcony, then went downstairs and tracked some guitar parts for the project. We are breaking now and going sightseeing. We will return later this afternoon to see if the producer wants anything retracked or added.

The project consists of two television commercials - one for the Reno/Tahoe Tourism Board and one for an energy drink company.

There's a movie soundtrack being recorded in the adjacent studio with complete string and brass sections present.

So anyway, my P90 double cut needed some tweaking I just now finally got around to.
In my half century plus of observation, I have found time is a most valuable asset up there with love, health, and peace of mind.
The neck pickup cavity is not deep enough and the pickup wont go down far enough so I drilled a row of shallow holes in line with the mounting screws and cleaned up the slot with a small chisel. Not perfectly clean but I could not reach in with a router without completely removing the pickup.

The bridge pickup cavity was too deep and longer small gauge screws were not readily available, so I fabbed a strip of wood to add to the bottom of the cavity, got the mounting screw holes sorted and glued it in as a spacer block.

I will dial it in tomorrow but it looks to be all Aces.
Really digging live Gary Moore at the moment as I ramble.
No pics, for what its worth.

So anyway....

Who knew bass strings were replaceable?!
I just learned that they are!:woohoo:
Really!
Honest!
I just put FOUR of them on mine! That seems to be all it will handle.;)
It’s like having a whole new bass.:run:
No pic's here either...
:oops2:

Really? I’ll have to see if that’s possible on my brothers 65 Harmony bass :ROFLMAO:

Dremels with teeth on the surface is perfect for routing pickup cavities

Great news, I have a mid 90's MIK Squire jazz bass with factory strings, it's mint. Got it new for my daughter, she took a hand full of lessons and put it away.
Hang on this is a trick, if I change the strings it won't be mint anymore.
I can see the "for sale" ad: Slightly modified...the strings were changed

So, anyways, last morning in Nor-California. Always misty and damp here in the mornings. Lots of wildlife everywhere. Very peaceful....
