I made a run at Dirt Racing back in the day --- then I grew past 5'4" and 130 lbs..........but -- the THINGS these cats can do now--- on the machines!!!! oh MAN I would have KILLED for that kinda travel---- I was running TWIN rear SHOCKS and a frame that weighed as much as a 250 cc bike does today ---- ugh----
being old sucks lol

<<<<<<<< Still Has my 1998 KX 250. One of the best of the 250 2 strokes ever made.

James "Bubba" Stewart won the '98 AMA 250 Championship on that bike. Of course, his was a factory ride.....which can't be bought. Great bike though.
Bocc, I think your info might be a little off. Bubba was only 13 in 1998 since he was born in 1985.
I don't think he took any titles till 2002 on a 125.
If I am not mistaken, Doug Henry took the MX title in 1998 on a Yamaha 4 Stroke ride and Jeremy McGrath took the Supercross title that year.

Yup, your correct. He won the 2008 on the KX, not '98. Guess that means your bike sucks!! LOL....Kidden of course.
Should have known that...Henry is my Favorite rider all time. He grew up the road from me...a local hero of sorts.
I was at the Budds Creek MD race when Henry did this jump ... -----> https://www.youtube.com/watchv=AawNRdISY8I
So Anyway, The next year at Budds, i had my first helicopter ride when I was life stared with injuries from an unfortunate incident.![]()
Notes( Bocc) I have raced at Budd's too and was there as a spectator for Doug's wreck and his return to victory.
Also, your link doesn't work.
No way!! Wow, imagine our paths may have crossed. That's crazy. I went to the nationals and GP at budds for many years. I would race the hairscramble on Saturday, and watch pro on Sunday.
They have that supercross style track for Saturday night...I saw travis pastrana as a kid doing the triple on his 80cc, and only a few 250 were doing it. He won his race and didn't come out for the second because he had to go to bed.
I also went to Budd's a few years later for Father's day and mid 125 moto I walked thru tunnels and around the track to find a good vantage point and when the pack of racers flew by me, I could pick out who was leading, despite not seeing the race begin. It was another famous Kawasaki racer who wore number 70 that day. None other than RC before I even knew he was going on to become the baddest racer on the planet within a few years. I still remember a race there where he always sucked at the hole shots and started dead last in a rain soaked track. He friggin went from last to first to win the race.
