So Anyway...

Did your home escape damage I hope?
Nothing serious. I have a “widow maker“ hanging in the large oak that shades my fire/bbq pit area. I’ll be happier when it finally comes down. Looks to be about 10 feet long, up to around 3-4 inches thick, dangling by a bark strip from around 35-40 feet up.
However, the surrounding area has many 12-16 inch thick trees that have snapped off 10-20 feet up their trunks. Telephone poles that just snapped in half. The larger, old growth trees….with trunks three feet or more across…they tended to be uprooted in the more saturated areas.
It was more damaging than other hurricanes I’ve seen.

Yep. Gonna be an ugly winter landscape in some spots that are usually quite picturesque. I hate to see a 200 year old tree uprooted like the ones I saw today…when it’s gone, it’s gone for my lifetime.

My wife just told me about the Nor’easter that blew through. I’m still in Chicago. Luckily, where my house is located, is a low area with hills in three directions. Our neighborhood missed most of the winds, and had no power outages. Most of Beverly was blacked out. Saturday, I’ll get to see what I missed. Have seen a lot of photos on FB and Instagram.

The South Shore got hit pretty hard….Scituate, Cohasset, Marshfield, Pembroke, and more.

I hope everyone in your family and in the area where you live is OK, John.

Ive done 120 ft. with scuba tanks in Bahamas right at the edge of the "ledge" into the deep blue abyss ............ that image will be with me forever, dont think I have seen anything more beautiful
I’ve done the same scuba off Catalina island. About 100ft down there’s a good sized ledge for 100s of feet out and then it’s a very steep drop down into the abyss.
