Actually the whole internet has been slow for me for the last week. my guess is major traffic from the coronavirus scare.

For the uninitiated that there is a Dell Latitude D800 series laptop. Workhorse of the small-to-medium business from 2006-2010. Some of the most reliable laptops ever. In fact I've still got one that works fine.

What a world we live in. Someone calls me on my home phone 10 times a day. It comes up as "American Red Cross". It's a fake. (I do donate blood on a regular basis)

Well it seems as though I may have pissed them off. At 2:05 AM PST we have 245 guests, mostly with IPs from China. I can't stay up all night adding them to the blocked IP addresses and will need to recruit my partners into helping add them to the list. The battle is on. We may run into some more slow loading times as these leeches keep sucking our bandwidth.

If they can gain control of this server they could possibly have access to databases of personal customer info for other sites on this server. As well as possibly gain access to additional servers that share credentials.

I'm not totally sure, but since I know that Wav does hosting and design - it seems some of his clients have e-commerce - that could be a potential target. But moreover they could then zombie the server for future use in a botnet or other malicious purposes.

Typically they are seeking free server access to utilize our mail server and send spam. They could potentially use our server to host porn images and charge their clients for hosting. I've been victim of both scenarios.

That is my experience. I get some yellow bars scrolling on the right of the screen while my post goes up.
