Simplest Front Panel To Convert Amp to Cabinet:

If i move forward with the DSL40C head project, i thought it would make sense to convert the headless amp to an extension cabinet, since i already have the super light Jenson Jet Tornado Neodymium speaker.

Is there any commercially available panel insert to make this conversion???

If not, how could i retain the gold anodized look and build my own without a sheet metal brake???

Maybe You find ome of those custom speaker maker shops who is willing to build just a cabinet to Your needs?

On the other hand - You have the skills to build guitars - why not DIY?

Simpler to use existing cabinet...all that is needed is a sheet metal panel.

If you’re just plugging an empty space left by an absent amp chassis, why not plug it with tonewood?
You could finish it in gold....or black...or tolex...or grill cloth....whatever. You would probably be able to get a better seal. Or maybe just make a new front baffle, and grill cloth to seal it up right.

What i like about the DSL40 hack to head was..the Dials where right up there to see with my bad eyes. Found anther pic

I took a hosed Fender Deluxe amp and lifted the speaker baffle up put a square of Koa wood on the bottom to fill the void same size as the chassis

Then laminate the gold anodized aluminum to a measured piece of wood to facilitate the install. The wood will help in sealing and reduce strange resonation. Using just a thin strip of metal might present other problems...

You guys (and gals) all made good suggestions. I know that i want to achieve a certain look for this cabinet and the gold anodized aluminum is a crtitical part of that look, notwithstanding the added weight of wood.
