Silverline .... Blackstar....interesting

It’s been awhile since I played a Blackstar. Perhaps the Silverline is different, but I was a bit underwhelmed by Blackstar. On the one hand, it sounded good, but on the other hand it felt sterile and uninspiring to me.

Of course, those sentiments are from years ago and that’s not to say the current product line is like that, or that I’d feel the same way if I was to try one now.

Yeah, they (Blackstars) are pretty generic-sounding amps.

Did it seem to you like you just stepped on a distortion pedal when you switched to the dirty channel? That’s what it felt like to me. Again it sounded ~good~, but it felt kind of ho-hum.

Yeah, that's a perfect description of what they're like now that you mention it. And the tube ones exhibit the same problem as the SS/modeling ones.

My sentiment exactly. It was sorta flat and not as responsive as it sounds like it would be. Especially when playing the Tonemaster Deluxe immediately afterwards. That's a good digital amp and feels almost like an empty cab with the neo speaker.

Exactly. Flat/unresponsive to volume and tone controls.

I wouldn't mind checking out that Fender
