Shutting down Amazon

Norm, they are building a brand new Amazon distribution warehouse in Ajax. It is just minutes from my house. It is absolutely gigantic!

Amazing.
What is amazing is that here in NJ, one of the richest men in the world has his humongous personal income subsidized by the taxpayer.
As with many others, he can pay the minimum wage, or around that, and those employees still qualify for low-income subsidies for Everything.

Not stating anything political; it just doesnt seem right. I'm not against people getting rich.
In comparison, working folks incomes has been mostly stagnant since the 1970's.
The rise in popularity of car leasing, longer auto loan terms, and 40+ year mortgages support this, as part of the smoke screen.

Tax season always gets me riled up.

Amazon....just another version....
 
I bought a couple of CDs from Amazon back around 2000. I frequently shop online, but I will try to use small shops if I can. I got my last Tonepros bridge from Darren Riley's Guitar Shop. Never been there, but I like shopping his store.

they have built (that I know of) 20 distribution facilities JUST in Central Fl in 2 years .....THOUSANDS of employees per facility ........100's of MILLIONS per facility (and this is happening all over the country) the $ amounts are BEYOND imagine -- we are talking more than entire counties net worths ........ all controlled by 1 company....... amazing.....scary......but amazing

I will buy from amazon if the product is USA / Canada / UK / Mexico.
I stopped buying products from China for the most part.
Especially clothing and shoes etc.
I usually try to buy locally first. I really only order stuff that I can't get locally.

I can tell you -- we have striped/sign installed 10 -- this most recent one (and the next) house over 1700 of the grey vans.... per facility ----

the others had 6-700 per location......
2 were warhouse "hubs"
1 was an extra special off loading location at the Lakeland Airport, where AMAZON PAID to ADD a whole........LARGER.......runway ..........to bring bigger cargo planes in (yep) reckon what that COST in FAA regulatuions air traffic changes ....and all that rot?? ???


Ive also sat in the little Town of Groveland .......(where the recent location is finalizing) ......and pondered ......how a town of 13,000 souls ....with a small downtown only a handful of stop lights ....etc. small 2 lane roads......is going to HANDLE the FLOW of 1700 plus vehicles....and employee vehicles-- infrastructure....power...etc etc
---Ive also wondered ifits a coincidence that a town of 13,000has a HUGE POLICE FORCE (Ive seen DOZENS of them together at a restaurant all local PO PO ) all in BRAND NEW SUV cop "cars"
Ive noticed EVERY "Groveland" and LAKE COUNTY govt. labeled vehicle is BRAND NEW -- not a beat up ol Ford or Chevy in the fleet that I can see...... even my crew noticed the number of COPS per Capita population -- and the fact ALL the county vehicles are BRAND NEW...........gee.......uhm... "coincidence"??????

I know here in Lakeland MANY $$$$ above board (Lord knows how much under the table) changed hands to get the runway extended and the building built

the national level of expenditure has got to be in the upper billions if not TRILLIONS ......
 
Mr Bezos didn’t get stupidly wealth by chance. I am certain that the “right connections” can help speed things along. I scratch your back, you scratch mine!
 
The only local stores I have are a supermarket and a family run lumberyard. Heck, the post office doesn’t even deliver up here (we have a PO Box).
I use Amazon a lot, but try to limit buying Chinese crap.
