Show us the Mics!

So when you trading the Gibson in for an Epi?

Funny you would say that.

Did you know that I actually traded @esge a 2017 Gibson SG T Series (that i really did not like and it was a mess and i waited too long to return it) for a Chinese Slash/AFD Les Paul that measured out to all the Gibson specs???

I earned enough $$$$ with that "fake" to purchase my genuine 2021 Gibson Les Paul.

Seriously, I'm a big fan of Made In USA. But, I don't think Epi has anything that even comes close to this 2021 Gibson Les Paul 50's Standard Gold Top for build and finish quality, adherence to specifications and tone.

@WavMixer can attest to how good it sounds and it was certainly a stand-out amongst other Gibsons that i have played.

Much better equipment than i have. Nice stuff there!!!!

I really like Neumann. They are almost a phenomenon they are so nice. I really only use one of the TLM 102 mics for vocal since I don't record instruments really anymore these days.

Have you ever heard the Sony-c800g? A total dream mic that sounds over the top outstanding. Doubt I'll ever hold one though.

I do not recall ever using that particular microphone.

One of our music chums is an eccentric microphone horader and private studio owner.

He's one of those guys that tells you how much he paid for something before he tells you anything else about a piece of equipment.

It would not surprise me if he doesn't have one.

Here's my current stash ...

Neumann TLM 102 (large diaphragm cardioid condenser x2)
Neumann KM 184 (small diaphragm cardioid condenser matched pair)
Telefunken M80 (dynamic)
Shure SM58 (dynamic)
Shure SM57 BETA (dynamic)
Nice bit of kit ther @Sapient ! The Neumann stuff is beyond my league. I play In the shallow end mostly.
A couple of ribbons - Aphex 210, and a FatHead.
A couple of med/large diaphragm condenser mic’s - AT4033, and Samson C3 multi-pattern.
A bunch of dynamic mic’s from Audio Technica, Audix, Shure, Sennheiser, MXL, ElectroVoice, I think a couple of Peavey mic’s someone donated.
A few old boundary mic’s.
A matched pair of AKG small condensers…made to mimic your KM 184 pair.
Some really tiny condensers(like a set of 6-7) that don’t handle too much SPL. You’d probably laugh if you saw them…tiny.
An old measurement mic(Behringer something or other).
I think that’s most of it…not counting a USB mic…kicking around here somewhere.
Nothing too fancy…just some stuff I’ve picked up along the way.

Thanks!
That's a lot nice stuff in there. Your shallow must be for King Kong?? Lol.

The Neumann mics were another research like this other ones. I had the U87 but never needed anything but cardioid pattern for my purposes. So, the ones I got have just that and save a lot of money due to it. This means like way way cheaper but with what I believe is the U87 cardioid sound.

Thanks for posting your mics, bro. :dood:

With the band, and for live recording, I like multi-directional mic’s for the room…like out in front of a drum kit…or for acoustic guitars in a nice setting etc. playing with different mic techniques is fun to me…like mid/side, and Blumlein, pairs. They play well with figure-8 pattern mic’s. The boundary mic’s don‘t see much action, but were great inside a kick drum.
