Should we ???

That's super cool.
I don't have a special guitar account. Sob sob sob :-(

Any purchase over about $500 we run past each outer and she always says OK but this is the last one. She says that a lot :)

She sounds like a keeper, Gasket!!!

The Von Herndon venture was profitable. I didn't get rich (that was never the plan) but I recovered the investment and then some.

My wife isn't into music or guitars, but she encourages me to do anything musically that I want.

When I got the silly idea to try and build my own line of guitars, she gave me a credit card just for the project that read "Von Herndon Guitars."

She's super supportive.

That means everything! You hit the jackpot!

We have a meeting today to update our affairs, if the outcome is status-quo we can afford it. If we get a negative outcome we can manage it. It will be her call regardless, her turn for me to say "OK but this is the last one". HAAA haaa.

Super nice guitar to have in the family, man - real nice...

Well the outcome of our meeting wasn't what we hoped for but it wasn't a disaster.
Ball is firmly in Mrs Gaskets court, I have no idea if she'll play it or let it pass to the keeper, watch this space.

All my best to you and Mrs Gasket, our Aussie brother.

BTW, did you ever follow AMA Grand National flat track type racing? From the early for me age of 8 when I saw a friend's advertisement for Benelli Mini bikes, I was hopelessly hooked on riding motorcycles at my first chance I could get. This turned out to happen about 4 years later when I met some other kids in my new neighborhood who had a Z 50, an XR 75 and then the rocket ship for me at that age, a brand new YZ 125.
I grew up in the times of motocross racers such as Jeff Ward and Rich Johnson, but also guys like these who were only a few years older than me. Scott Parker, Bubba Shobert, Chris Carr, Steve Morehead, Doug Chandler, Fred Merkel, Rodney Farris ( my high school classmate)
Our home town was also blessed in the racing scene by an older legendary racer named Gary Nixon.

I was wondering if you ever knew of or raced against them or some of their competition or what? What kind of racing was your specialty?

Here is the YZ I rode. 1977

I know what you are saying. My Wife supports me in whatever I take on. As you know I am a R/C Pilot and deeply involved in the Hobby. And now a big part of my life is in Guitars as well. My Wife never complains whenever I wish to make a purchase of any kind, or if I am going to a flying meet or do a gig. I have a lot of respect for her, I don't take advantage of this and I make sure I reciprocate .

Referring back to post #1 last Thursday the question was "Should we???"
This morning, new years eve she decided we will.
The 335 is at a store 30 min drive south that happens to be owned by the same family as my local 5 minute away shop. I ring my local shop, tell them about the deal and screw another $200 out of it, then commit! We arrange for me to take my trade in and the $ change over to the local shop and then drive 30 min south to pick up the 335, great :-)
No no no, I get a call saying the NEW 335 in on the workshop bench, I can't get it today. Bottom line the only burst 335 Traditional in known captivity has a blown tone pot and will be sent to the importer for repair. A bit of a think and WE make the decision to walk away.
No burst in the 2019 Traditional range but there is in the "Figured" range. I now have two dealers looking at a new Figured in the new year. My Florida based agent is also on high alert. Lets see how this unwinds, one way Mrs Gasket gets new Australian stock, the other she'll get a better $ deal, probably second hand that my agent gets to rub his junk on before shipping :-(

Edit, Gibson photo, 2019 Figured.

I also was looking at Guild Starfire guitars. If I am not mistaken, at least one member has experience with one.

I had a Starfire IV without the Bigsby. I had it quite a while for me...it was really nice and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. But, the pickups are not standard size...so swaps are out or complicated.
