Cost at Stew Mac: $237
Mine: $0

The radiused pressing feet attach to the press by sliding dovetail so they can be removed and swapped out for a different radius. At the momentiment I just have 12" and 7¼”. I will be making a 9½” one too. Thr bottom piece can be removed and used as a clamping caul for the bottom of a neck. When attached ti the tool, the bottom can slide a little from side to side to aid in alignment.

I will probably line the pressing surface with sheet brass for durability.

They might be. Not sure. I just had them in my shop. I have another pair with slightly larger pads on them that I like better so these were expendable. Plus, I could bolt the pads back on if I ever needed the clamp.

The basic design was Dan Erlewine's (I think.) But I will take credit for coming up with the plan to make a version in the shop. BTW, its maple so it should be plenty sturdy. That maple I have is freaking HARD!

Great bit of work there. You should get a patent on the design.
Someone in china sees this, they'll be all over ebay for $50

Have you had a chance to try it out yet, just a test run?

Thanks. As I said, the design is Dan E's.

But for $237.00 I'll learn to overcome my dislike of hammering in frets.

Even so, you've done a good job of it. Your woodwork skills are pretty good for a Lawyer!!! ;)

I did a kitchen remodel where I built all of the cabinets from lumber in my shop. Lawyer is what I do and who I am, but working with my hands is therapy. Also, when it comes to trying things in the shop, I am fearless.

Thats awesome Dew. I don't mean to sound condescending or rude, but it's just not something I'm used to. Apologies if I offended you...

Not at all. I thought it was humorous. Not rude in the slightest. I totally get where you are coming from. I take it as a compliment.
